Falling behind ...

Hello everyone...

I'm falling soooo far behind on catching up with everyones posts. Between work, school, my blog and keeping up with several forums I'm having a hard time posting photos everywhere. If you are interested to see where I am with my Christmas decorating my blog always has the pictures first. I've been uploading Christmas type of things to it since the day after Thanksgiving and probably will continue to do so daily all the way up to Christmas. Even thought the decorating is almost complete I continue to play with my dishes and tablesettings and I am 'cramming' for school. Have to finish up a major homework assignment in the next couple of days that is driving me up a wall. I wish they would cut out homework and just let me take the tests and exams. I have 100's on all of those but this assignment is truly kicking my behind. So please forgive me if I'm not commenting in a timely fashion or even get to upload photos here. There just don't seem to be enough hours in a day.

I hope all of you are enjoying the season and maybe in a week when this school stuff is behind me I'll be able to catch up with everyone. I miss you all.

Tam, I'm home all day and I can't keep up with all the new posts, pictures & new members that have joined us.

Won't complain though, it's good to see so many new people & all their beautiful decor!

I will check out your blog, busy day for me today too, so will leave comments later.

My son finished college while married with 3 kids & a stressful (deadline oriented) full time job, I know what you are going thru!!!!

OK, had a few minutes while waiting to call a business in Calif. that isn't open yet!!!!

Give me your address, I'm coming over to steal everything on your coffee table, my sunroom is Northwoods theme & it would all go perfectly in there! Just love all you've done.

The fireplace is PERFECT, you have such a talent for decorating! I love the softer look, the draped greens and the fireplace is stunning!

I will keep checking you blog, since all your pics are there.

I had both Turtlehead and Ligularia in my hands, but decided not to get them for now (although I love ligularia)...did pick up Goatsbeard and hopefully it will do alright considering it is more a shade plant and my planting areas around the waterfall is full sun. I tried to put it more behind a big boulder and where the moisture would stay more consistent. Guess next year will tell how well it does:) Does anyone grow either Goatsbeard or Ligularia in full sun? I hate to say this, but after the past two weeks of moving things around, digging, planting...I'm getting mighty sick of gardening! LOLS I just keep reminding myself, that it will all be worth it next year. (I hope!) Deb

Is this a blind corner cabinet or one that has openings on both sides of the corner (similar to a corner susan)? I'm assuming a blind corner... Unfortunately, this problem is one of the big negatives to blind corner cabinets & pullouts...corner susans (super or lazy) that have a wall that follows the contour of the shelves not only use more of the available space but also prevent items from falling off the shelves. I can only think of three possibilities right now.... See if your GC can put up some kind of sturdy, solid wall that follows the contour of the half-moon and is attached to each shelf...not sure what b/c it would have to curve. Perhaps your GC will have an idea. Failing that, see if you can switch out the shelves for something like this D-shaped shelf (b/f the counters are put on). Lastly, could you remove the blind corner contraption altogether and instead install pullout shelves similar to this Base Corner with Sliding Shelves and Pullouts (second pic on the top row). If it were me & I were forced to have a blind corner, I would prefer #3... (I really prefer a corner susan to a blind corner, though)

I do have my own lawncare/gardening website: http://thegreengreengrassofhome.blogspot.com/ But I provide information as freely there as I do here, usually generated by questions people have asked me face to face, or that show up in my search results. Or just things I notice happening in my own garden. Not that I'll object if you go and click on some of my ads, but it's not exactly a money-maker, nor designed to be. Think of me as your Public Advocate for Mostly-Organic Gardening. People have asked why I don't run a lawn care company. The answer is that doing this correctly requires pretty good timing, so I could take limited clients. And the amount of work involved per lawn means it would be incredibly expensive until the lawns reach maintenance, but that takes years.

My goodness, are you a professional decorator? I absolutely love everything I saw, but especially your mantel. You must be wonder woman to decorate, go to school and work, too.

I noticed the dedication on your site. Did you get some of your talent from your mother? What a great looking woman she was! I bet you really miss her this time of year. I am her age and I still miss mine.
How proud she must be, looking down and seeing all you are accomplishing.

As usual, your home is very tastefully decorated. Such talent you have! Every picture shows another beautiful,well put together,area to enjoy. I remember your kitchen tree from last year and thought it was perfect then, but you've made it even better.
Your fireplace area is so soothing and calming. I would enjoy a good cuppa having something that beautiful to enjoy also.
I can't wait to see your tablesettings.

Hi Tam, good luck with your homework and the tests. Know you will be relieved when it is over.

I always try to get by your blog at least once a week to see what you've been up to. I have to tell you that your new cardinal plates are so gorgeous. Can't wait to see them in a tablesetting. All your decor looks so pretty and gives such a nice homey feeling too. Thanks for sharing it with all of us.

Tam, haven't had much time to keep up either. Lots of events going on here and I steal a few minutes when I can to check in...
Good luck with your school work...I took 60 credits past my MA while working and being a mom...lots of choices to be made....you can't do it all!
