A couple of tracking cookies is not going to affect your computer's speed. A more likely culprit is the programs you have running in the background. Typically, as you add software to your computer, like RealPlayer, etc., these programs set themselves to startup every time you boot up your computer. Go to Run, type in "msconfig" (without the quotes), click on the Startup tab, and uncheck any things you don't need starting up and running in the background...like Adobe, Quicktime, Realplayer, etc. Then click on "Apply" and "Ok," and then restart your computer. See if that helps any.

go get the free superantispyware program and install, update and run full scan let it remove anything it finds, it should be updated and run each week. I would also get spywareblaster installed on all computers from http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html install, update, enable all protection do this once a week Here is a link that might be useful: superantispyware

owbist, My sister has Norton Antivirus on her computer and it is suppose to take care of the Trojans. It also has virus protection, spyware protection, an inbound firewall. It has an outgoing and incoming email scanning and instant messenger scanning. She has no problems running Norton, or SuperAntiSpyware. I had her remove Ad-Aware 2007 because I believe it was either corrupt or just stopped working. She should have had 2008 but like I said her husband was seriously ill and then passed away Thanksgiving morning. She was up here when all this took place since he was brought here hoping to get him better care. I am trying to get her back on track with her computer with check disks, defrags and updates that she may have missed while she was here. Hi ravencajun, Thank you for all the information. Since I had her do the Check Disk and Defrag her computer has been faster and there seems to be no other problems. I haven't had her run another scan in SuperAntiSpyware yet, I wanted to make sure that everything was running smoothly again before we try running another scan. I do see where there is a place where she can click for a false positive if that should happen again. But before I would have her do that I will have her to uninstall and reinstall SuperAntiSpyware just to make sure Ad-Aware was not the cause of it showing something in the registry. I will look into Malwarebytes 'Anti-malware after everything else is done. I am very interested and from what you say it sounds like a pretty stable program. I will have to print out the instuctions and play with it myself before I get her involved with something new. Since she is not familiar with this stuff and is afraid to try something new, it is best that I try it out first and then introduce her to it. Thanks again for all your help. Oakley: you're kidding?!? I made a mistake earlier saying that I deleted Norton, it was MacAffee, which I've had for quite a while.
