Thanks for your suggestions. But this time I took the chicken way out and hauled the computer to our local Best Buy geek squad where I waited while the tech took care of things. After he listened to my problem, all he did was insert one of his premade CDs, followed a few directions on screen, and removed the existing password. Took only 10 minutes or so, and saved me a lot of gray hair while trying to remedy the situation on my own. Now I need neither a finger swipe nor a password. But, lest you're concerned, know that's fine for this machine. Nothing critical, sensitive or personal on it, only my teaching PowerPoints, all of which are backed up elsewhere. Here's my latest attempt. Uninstalled the software everywhere I could find it. Did an Error Check and then a defrag. Rebooted. Downloaded the software again. Disconnected the printer and reconnected it accoriding to instructions on the Quck Start poster that came with my printer. After installation, I did a manual test page, which printed out fine. I made sure the printer is listed as the default. But when I tried yet again to print from a computer file, yet again nothing happened. If I had a cd, I don't now. That's strange because I have the cd for my scanner,which is older than my printer. I also have cd's that came with my first computer, years ago. But no printer cd. There is still an explanation in front of the Printer Port in the DM, and the printer is still not listed there. The link you gave, grandms, didn't help, unfortunately. I will go to the hp site to locate the live person when I have the time to devote to it. I've spent so much time on this, my RL is slipping, and I have to catch up. Thanks to everyone who has tried so hard to help me. If any more ideas occur to anyone, just post it. I'll be checking back here, as I always do. I love this site. Dee

I found this protocol on another forum for a different 1350 concern. I think it might be a good process for you to try. It sure won't hurt anything. The print carriage may be jammed, follow these steps to correct the problem: Open the print cartridge access door. If the print carriage can move, it should move to center. If the print carriage stays all the way left, unplug the power cord and then plug it back in. This will reset the unit and may allow the print carriage to move from the left. Disconnect the power cord from the all-in-one. Remove both print cartridges. Move the print carriage left and right slightly to verify that the print carriage will move freely. If the print carriage will not move freely, check for obstructions. Close the print cartridge access door. Plug the power cord back in. After the all-in-one initializes, the print cartridge light will flash. Open the access door and install the print cartridges. Close the print cartridge access door. If the problem returns, remove the print cartridges and wipe the electrical contacts before reinstalling them. Try to make a copy. If the all-in-one pulls in paper but cannot make a copy, there may be a problem with the scanner mechanism. DA

I think the back to front or front to back is not the problem. I wouldn't care what prints first since I don't do much text printing.........The problem is HOW to not print the sample label in PayPal. I had to buy 2 shipping labels today. It did it again, twice, including that 3rd print page with the upper instructions on how to print the label. I've looked through the options, but it is not going to tell me how not to do Sample label printing. I removed the printer and added it again and it works great only it didn't solve the label problem. I have also googled for a fix, but no one seems to have run into this problem. I have had this printer for a long time. I bought it with my XP and now I have W 7. AM I READY FOR A NEW ONE?
