I'll elaborate more on what I'm trying to do so it'll make more sense. I schedule appointments for technicians to go out and make repairs. Have to use pencil in the appointment book due to so many changes. At the end of the day, I have to make a photocopy of the appointment page and then fax that to the techs for the next day. Appt page will not fit in fax machine, too big, so I fold it, copy one side and then copy the other side. This was not a problem with my other printer but I have gotten a new computer and printer and now this one doesnt seem to print the hand written text as dark as my other one did. I can't find anywhere on the printer to adjust the settings to make it print darker. Thanks for your help.

Here's my latest attempt. Uninstalled the software everywhere I could find it. Did an Error Check and then a defrag. Rebooted. Downloaded the software again. Disconnected the printer and reconnected it accoriding to instructions on the Quck Start poster that came with my printer. After installation, I did a manual test page, which printed out fine. I made sure the printer is listed as the default. But when I tried yet again to print from a computer file, yet again nothing happened. If I had a cd, I don't now. That's strange because I have the cd for my scanner,which is older than my printer. I also have cd's that came with my first computer, years ago. But no printer cd. There is still an explanation in front of the Printer Port in the DM, and the printer is still not listed there. The link you gave, grandms, didn't help, unfortunately. I will go to the hp site to locate the live person when I have the time to devote to it. I've spent so much time on this, my RL is slipping, and I have to catch up. Lets take a closer look at that... hpqtra08.exe That's most likley the file causing the issue. This startup entry is started automatically from an entry in your Startup folder in the Start Menu. Going into the registry is not recommended, as you don't want to delete anything! Just stop it from starting up with windows. Also This program hpqtra08.exe is not required to start automatically as you can run it when you need to. It is advised that you disable this program so that it does not take up necessary resources. Post a log using the instructions below. We can take a closer look and make sure that is the file causing the issue, you could probably see it in MSCONFIG but I don't recommend controling startup programs from there. Click Here to download HJTInstall.exe Version 2.0.4 installer. Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop. Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop. Right click the Hijackthis Icon and Run as Adminstrator if you use Vista or Windows 7 By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Click on Install. It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop. Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis. Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad. Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" and Paste the entire contents of the log into your next post. DO NOT use the AnalyzeThis button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted. DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what HJT lists will be harmless or even required by your Operating System.

Thanks, zep. It's not set to mirror image. I even tried checking that box to see if I could reverse it. No such luck. I don't understand the fix in your link either. I'll try un- and re-installing the printer (just in case the bits got turned sideways, ya know). This is such a dopey problem.
