30" Capital Culinarian Manual MCOR304?
Comments (16)Yes, per the company, to get the newest MCOR model with the center cast iron grate: "Yes, please make sure when purchasing a unit the serial number ends in a letter âÂÂCâÂÂ. The units with the stainless steel in the middle will have a serial number that end in a âÂÂBâÂÂ." Is anyone who is knowledgeable willing to share an opinion whether the new manual clean model is on balance better or worse than the old CGMR model (which seems to be for sale some places)? Or even whether the simmer burner is a good thing or not (since one can still order with 4 uniform burners if one does not want the simmer or small pot burner)? Is the simmer burner a 23K burner with fewer holes, or is it an 8K burner? Does having a smaller burner make calibrating burners and keeping them calibrated a problem? Did Capital change anything else when they added back the middle cast iron grate? A spec sheet from October 2013 shows 25K burners not 23K??? FYI for anyone else out there who is shopping for a range, I have been told that the other differences between the old CGMR 304 and the MCOR 304 with the stainless steel strip in the middle are: MCOR can be installed with vertical gas supply coming out of floor; MCOR has about 33% larger oven capacity and fits a commercial size cookie sheet at the cost of removal of the glass cover from the broiler (so the broiler element gets dirtier, is harder to clean); MCOR has the one 8K small pot or simmer burner; MCOR oven door construction is all stainless steel and glass with flat glass panel instead of porcelain and glass with a 1.5 inch porcelain window pack; the bake (bottom?) oven burner is flush in the MCOR instead of having 1.5 inch high oven bottom cover; flush wire mesh broiler element instead of flush wire mesh under glass; no gas shut off valve on the MCOR; no rear casters on the MCOR; 2 instead of 3 oven racks on the MCOR; MCOR has flush island trim with vertical venting instead of 3 inch island trim with front venting. I think that's all of them....See MoreCapital Culinarian cooling fan question
Comments (28)Update on my Capital range cooling fan issue. With the assistance of another member here on Houzz I contacted the focal point for Capital customer service. I engaged with the customer service represenative and sent a video of the cooling fan making a loud noise. It was agreed the fan was defective and needed service and Capital would contact a service repair shop to schedule a time to make the repair. The Capital service representative was friendly; however, here we are weeks later and no service appointment has been scheduled. My intial contact with Capital customer service was before Thanksgiving and as of this date I have not been contacted by a repair company or anyone else to schedule service. I am told today when I called Capital they had left a message with a repair shop which was never returned. No additional follow up was ever made by Capital until I inquired. I didn't find this unusual since my initial contact via email to Capital customer service went unread until I called them two weeks after I sent it at which time they opened the message. Some 11 plus weeks have gone by. Two weeks of this elapsed time was on me due to not having access to the range at a second home to attain the serial number. Aside from those two weeks, Capital has been pleasant but ineffectual in getting anything done. I've not used the range other than test it. Perhaps, I'll love it when I use it. Frankly I'm not looking forward to installing the Capital range hood as I dread the idea of finding it too to have a problem. I would like to be able to cross "get new range fixed" off my to do list. One bit of advice to those seeking to purchase a professional range. Call and/or email customer service for the ranges on your short list to see how responsive the service department seems to be....See MoreVery interested in New Capital Culinarian 30inch manual clean
Comments (2)Check out this thread on the Appliances Forum. It may have info to help you. I am still considering a 30" CC, and I REALLY like the look of the plain center panel instead of the awkward looking center grates. Nice that it is the same height as the grates. Comments (2)We chose the connoisseurian 48" self cleaning, duel fuel. Our understanding is that the rack is a little further from the broiler element and the oven is a wee bit taller to accommodate the broiler function. I've seen the culinarian and it also had the same rolling racks I thought. I have simmer on mine and it's amazing. Nothing scorches on the bottom, I simmered a small pot of cinnamon sticks for a party, no issues. I'm on the east coast . No issues getting service so far (to level the unit, and to fix a door seal)...See Moresidpost
