Jenn - Your things look beautiful! I love the Christmas village. That is such an unusual piece behind the bowl in the first pic - just gorgeous! I looked through your website and I love all that you've done. I love going to thrift stores, flea mkts and garage sales as well. You just never know what you are going to find.

My little Family Dollar $10 tree turned out decently, but it was touch and go for a while there-- I first put that purple and gold garland on it and it was looking less festive Christmas and more Mae West. :-)

I think I might get a battery operated light to put in the cathedral so light can shine through the "stained glass" windows.

I've got a lot more to do, and then there will be the "tweaking" Luvs talks about. Always tweaking...

Karen and Bright, the fairies on the mantle actually came from TJ Maxx and Marshalls this season. They had them in a number of colors-- I haven't been there in the last couple of weeks, but they may still have some. They had angels, too, though not in these particular colors.

When I saw them, they pretty much determined for me what my dining room was going to look like this year. :-)

And Bright, yes, my house is an oldie-- it's a small Victorian from 1899. Which I particularly enjoy at Christmas because decorations really make it look "right".

I'll try to post more pics when I get other things situated.

Dreamgoddess-- good memory on the cathedral!!-- yes, it WAS entirely enabled by Jim, being helpful and kindly sharing a link where I could get some of my own...

They did have that turquoise castle we both had liked, but up close, I didn't care for it as much; it wasn't as detailed as the cathedral.

Prosperity, I think they're supposed to be fairies, or else they're angels where the designers got a bit creative with the wings. :-) And yes, indeed, welcome to the forum from me, as well.

Jenn, Your displays are lovely! They actually reminded me of a Mardi Gras theme with the Purple, Gold and Green color scheme. I bet you could get a way with leaving it up through Feb. 5th (Mardi Gras 2008)...as Easter is March 23rd in 2008 (say it isn't so but it is!). I think I told you ladies last year that I did a Mardi Gras party a few years back and bought a ton of purple, gold and green ornaments after Xmas and decorated the center of the table with them.

I love looking at everyone's pictures. We got a new camera recently, just need to learn how to use it and download the pictures. Soon.

Flamingo, I had someone else mention to me the tree reminded them of mardi gras-- I see where you're coming from, and while I hadn't thought of that, it DID get me thinking I might add some peacock feathers to it here and there. I have a bunch of them (been using them in decorating for YEARS and now it seems they're in stores everywhere! How does this happen??!)

That's part of the fun of coming here; you all help spawn all sorts of great ideas. My house thanks you. :-)

I'll be open a topic on Christmas in Belgium next week, as soon as I'll finish my English training course: I'm still having my day job and come back home at 7 PM and sometimes 8 PM and have the training course homework to do, so, no time to be on the computer any more but just spend some minutes to visit this forum that I am addicted to!

I'll take some pictures of houses decorated for Christmas in my little village: Belgian seem to copy American to decorate their houses.

And will also add pictures of my own Xmas decorations: don't expect something big... I'm still a Christmas decorating newbie ;-)

Prosperity, I will be looking forward to your pics. I will probably never get to travel overseas, so your pics will help me see a little bit of another country!

Don't worry about being new at decorating. Most of us feel we are still learning, and it is always fun to see each others decorations and ideas.

If our TJ's had them they sold out before I got to see them. I've enjoyed your site many times and you are such a talented lady. And I love the purple grapes on your little tree.

prosperity66, Welcome to the holidays forum. I know we would all love to see pics of decorations in Belgium and especially your own decorations. And if would be wonderful to hear of some of your village's Christmas traditions. Imagine getting to say you live in a "village".
