remodel- how long did it take?
Comments (17)Wow, I guess I lucked out! Of course, the tile people haven't come yet, but they promise 4 days....fingers crossed. If you count in the research and decision days, add a year to my 2 weeks. I don't decide stuff like this quickly, but while I'm doing the research and deciding, our old bathroom is intact. Maybe cause this is our only bathroom...they are being efficient. Good thing we have 9 acres, plenty of 'bathroom' places when the toilet is out. AND it's summer in the Northeast! We take showers outside....We have really long hoses to reach our garden and when the hoses lay out in the sun, the water gets real hot. We have a 'wand' (whatever it's called) on the end of the hose with a shower head that is variable. The turn-on knob is near the hose connection. I tied the wand to a 2x4 on the wood shed behind the garage and the shower head is above my head and we shower there!! (I use my bathsuit, DH au naturale) (No other houses around) It's actually pretty good, should use it all summer. Save lots of fuel!! BUT, it has to be during the day. DH found out that the hose doesn't hold the heat if you shower in the evening. lol But, it's only been a week so far. SHOULD have shower back by next Friday or Sat. I HOPE. Good luck to everyone!...See Morehow long does it take to complete a build?
Comments (12)Get an Amish builder! We built a very custom, 3200 ft two story Craftsman farmhouse with high-end finishes through-out. The time frame estimates we got from other builders was 9 - 12 months. Our Amish builder finished it in 92 days! Of course, his crews work 12-15 hrs a day, 6 days a week and we didn't lose a single day for weather delays. He was building 4 other houses at the same time, so he is able to schedule his crews from house to house without any delays. I've never seen men work as hard and efficiently as they did. There was so little waste and no wasted time or motion that we were constantly amazed, and the woodworking and finishes are superb. And the county building inspector said it's the best quality building he's seen in ages....See MoreHow Long did your kitchen remodel take?
Comments (34): ( Forever and ever.... We started last May it feels like longer than a year. It seems like it is never ending. My DH just told me he does not like the crown molding and wants to hire someone to come in redo our ceiling and crown molding. I would say I am about 85% done. The kitchen is functional, I have had friends over but there are little details that still need to be ironed out. And sometimes I get sad about it. And other times I remind myself that I have a good excuse to visit GardenWeb kitchens. ~boxerpups...See MoreHow long should a bathroom remodel take 5 ft x 7 ft
Comments (17)3-5 weeks lets consider navigating an apt. building, parking , working in tight confines with an at home client , lets consider how many humans can work in this small space at once and how much storage and staging space this ladys small apt has throughout the job while she works from home? is there stairs and or elevators? and now enter the fact that there is no scope of work spoken of. you certainly can paint and lay vinyl and replace trim in a week. a gut/reno permitted inspected with any tile, vanity, and certainly any plumb electric work drywall mud paint trim.... are you accounting for the quote /design off site time? the material selections/procurement time? the apt bldg association rules? handholding? have you yourself built 50 bathrooms and can speak to all the challenges or did your neighbors cousin tell you a week? only on TV...See Moresjblick
