hello, the machine is only 3 years old,yes i did destroy all the data on it after i formatted.i still have the larger drive but it won't read it. last night a neighbor gave me a windows 2000 disc and i formatted the drive again and it worked;it saw the full capacity of the drive and is ready to use, however when i try to bring the second drive with 225 + gigs of data on it it will not see it no matter how i switch things around bios won't read it, so i took it out, the drive i have working is set to master and is the only drive in the pc but bios says it is a secondary slave drive but it is on the primary ide channel and set to master!!everything in bios is set to auto detect drives,but as soon as i connect the other drive as a slave drive and reboot, the computer freezes and gets stuck on the post screen and hangs.funny thing is when i take that drive and put it in the hard drive enclosure that converts regular drives to use with usb and plug it into the computer i am on right now and reboot, windows comes up and says : found new hardware,mass storage usb device,your hardware is installed and ready to use,it even gives me a new drive letter,shows the drive as a western digital drive but... when i click on the drive letter it says please insert a disk into drive j....hmmm

Yeah it was a bit silly to go there, he did realize that afterwards but he was tired and wanted to do something quickly. Learning curve :-) So once we had QV06 he went to Techspot.com for advise and ended up downloading Adwcleaner from Bleepingcomputer.com That got rid of it. To be honest I'm not a big fan of downloading programs to clean up/uninstall other programs but nothing else seemed to work. So I wanted to check what it was all about for myself and I went to Bleepingcomputer.com (on another pc) to have a look at the info about it. It started downloading the Adwcleaner straight away even though I had only gone to the website to visit. I hadn't clicked a 'download here' button or anything like that, that seems strange to me. After my partner removed the QV06 from the other computer he also ran the eset online scanner to check if that came up clean, which it did. It really looks like it's gone. What you have to do is look for a hidden file in windoze it should be in programs> Mozilla> Firefox after you have removed Firefox and before you reinstall it. Just delete that entire Firefox folder and then do a new install. Firefox keeps all the user info hidden in there and since the problem is continueing after a new install there is the problem. A corrupted file or maybe a ext you have added has gone amuck is all.

As I recall, I had to download/install a newer version of Adblock Plus following the last Firefox update. Sometimes the add ons are no longer compatible and need to be reinstalled using a compatible add on. I'm sorry for those of you that struggle with the updates. I don't even give it a thought, I just expect to need to reconfigure after updates and take it in stride.
