yea I would not have used that download either good you canceled it. What happens sometimes is that firefox for some reason does not fully close, so on the one that says it can't continue till you close it, do a control alt delete to bring up task manager, in the list of processes look for firefox and select to end or terminate process. Or reboot your pc to fully stop it then you can try again to update it. are you going to the actual mozilla site for download? Here is a link that might be useful: firefox download

Funny I had a similar problem this week ended up reinstalling it. I think it may have been an add/on issue. If you click start> Programs now look for the Mozilla Firefox Icon left click on it once you will see the option for (Safe Mode) you could try doubling clicking the safe mode option and see if firefox connections work better. Running in the Safe Mode, not to be confused with Windows Safe Mode disables the add/ons in Firefox. Good luck and let us know.

well you have to download it to your pc, then close all of your browser windows completely shutting down all instances of firefox, then go to the download and double click to begin the install, follow wizard. to see the plugins you have in your firefox browser open a firefox browser window, in the url box type about:plugins and hit enter, it will give you a list of all current plugins and their state. A really good free little program by Secunia will tell you if any of the programs and such are up to date or if there are newer versions, it is very helpful to keep things updated. Maybe Firefox has lost some QC in the process? I was having random stability problems with Firefox, including whole machine freeze-ups, odd behavior, crashes. Different machines with different users and not all the same Win versions. I deleted Firefox, put Chrome in a prominent position, and all is well. I had no compelling reason to keep it and have found with regular use I like Chrome better. Everyone has a different experience. Android-wise, I just use whatever was bundled with it, it seems fine. I always try to use purpose-built apps more than the browser anyway.
