my latest 'finds'

I have been shopping a little too much the past week, LOL.

Big Lots, Goodwill, Michaels, and my favorite Antique Mall.

And of course couldn't resist Holiday items! The thing I wanted MOST, and WORST, was a Nutcracker Soldier figure at the antique mall. Oh was he ever calling my name!!! LOL. However I had to ignore him since he was 6 ft tall and $300.

I couldn't have stored him, he'd have needed his own bedroom! (Actually looking online at the lifesized Nutcrackers, they run three times as much, and more, so he really was good buy. Too bad I don't have that kind of money to burn, darn it. I could just "see" him by my life-size Carousel Horse in the living-room....sigh.

To make things easier with you on dial-up, I put them in my shopping album on Photobucket.

Karen, you found some great buys! Too bad they didn't have the giant nutcracker at 70% off, bet you'd have found a way to take him home!!!

I finally got to see your dogs, didn't realize you had them in your ablums. Wow, they are gorgeous, can you tell I'm a dog lover??? I don't know how you manage all those dogs & cats, though, they are a lot of work.

I have 3 Shih Tzus, I breed them & one old gal cocker spaniel, who is just a pet.

When we have puppies, I am worn out til they all go to their new homes, but it is such a joy having the little pups around for 8 weeks, I get soooo attached to them all!!

What joy your beautiful dogs must bring to you!

Sometimes projects just do not work out grrrrr...I tried this new spray paint on the lamp...it was Rustoleum hammered spray paint and it has a funky spray nozzle that literally takes 2 hands to work...then the stupid little nozzle broke off so paint went everywhere...I highly do NOT recommend this paint...then when I finally got it all painted the top part of the lamp would not sit on the base correctly....then I realized that is why they threw it away... so there was not way I could plant it because it just kept falling over as soon as I put dirt in the lamp shades double grrr...oh well it had sat on the curb geting wet for several days before I rescued it so I would not have wanted anyone else to get it and accidentally plug it in and get zapped...I hope I am not the only one who had a project not work out

Hey Brooke! Yea - I am buying again since I had a disaster and lost all except 1 orchid. My 3 season room where they all seem to winter happily had the door left open over night a couple of weeks ago and everything froze and turned to mush. So - I am buying again :-) Yes, when I say this is a mini - the pot is about 3 inches across and the spike is maybe 4 - 5 inches tall at most? I know there is nothing for scale in the picture. This thing is tiny and adorable! I didn;t know there were mini orchids. The blooms maybe slightly larger (I mean grapes do come in a variety of sizes) but I would guess they are about an inch across. Anyway it is a little cutie and I am keeping it! Alexa

Karen, so glad you added to your nutcracker collection with these beauties. That tall one has such a pretty paint job. It must of been so hard trying to decide which ones to buy with such a selection before your eyes. My favorite is your Lenox "Polar Magic" Santa. That is just awesome! It will be beautiful with the rest of your collection. The snowy s & p shakers and booty with cardinal are keepers. All three are just so cute and no wonder you couldn't resist them. Your new purple hurricane is HUGE and you got a great deal on it. It looks marvelous! I'm so happy for you to be able to get out and find so many special things. But so sad to hear those darn legs don't want to play well with your feet after all that shopping. Sounds like you accomplished quite abit tho. Having your lights on the mantel must be a wonderful feeling knowing that's done. Punk

Cathy, considering how much flash flooding we've had lately, I suppose it's also ''unfair'' that we have a dry basement! We started looking at houses one year after the 1993 floods, and could tell wet basements were a real problem around here. (When in doubt, look for the house at the top of a hill, keep those drains and gutters clear, and grade away from your house!) One benefit of tonight's rain is the double rainbow I got a fantastic picture of right out my back door. I don't get to see many of those. Pam, if we did remodel, I'd be the one who is dedtired. We still live in Dorothy-land, so I'm trying to clear a habitable space in case of inclement (tornado) weather. Right now, I won't even go down there.

Thanks for tracking this album down anyway, Luvs and Yacht.

Yacht, I haven't bred a litter in 7 yrs and always hated selling puppies as I get too attached. It was easier to go buy a pup when I wanted another one to show.
Since I've had animals all my Life, including 5 horses at once... and everything from them on down to white mice when I was in grade school, I guess I never really considered the 'work' involved. If I had an sense, I wouldn't have so many dogs and cats now. But I love them all so much. And they bring me joy, laughter, and help me deal with each day's pain. They get me up and moving, which is the most difficult part for Fibro sufferers. When my son was burned, they became my 'sanity keepers' in a world turned upside down. I honestly don't know what I would do without pets in my Life. They give so much, and expect so little.

Nice haul. Love the santa station and the nutcrackers. We have been snowed in here and I am suffering from shopping withdrawl! LOL. Its probably not so much snow for other people in the midwest or east coast, but a foot of snow is far too much for us in seattle - we have not left home in 5 days now and I am itching to go do some shopping.

Karen, so true, the unconditional love from a pet is beyond words. I love all mine like they are my children, but with back troubles, it can take a toll, but like you, I wouldn't give them up because of it!

I was sure happy to find the pictures of your beautiful pets!!

Yacht, glad you enjoyed seeing my fur-kids. Did you look at the album of "other's whippets"? There are some hysterical pictures, I saved these as not only favorite shots I've seen but they sure show the true personality of Whippets.

Mo, sorry you and some of our other pals here are snowed in so badly. All of you should relocate to Phx this time of year. Grass is green, hummingbirds eating a lot at the feeder, I'm wearing light-weight long sleeve tops. Phoenix is the perfect place in winter. Get up a caravan of RV Holiday Gang, and we can all shop till we drop. LOL.
(Its my summers that are the problem and keep me inside too much!)

What awsome finds!!! That santa station looks like it belongs in a candylane Christmas scene!! I have a Nativity similar to yours from the goodwill for $1 but it was just in a plain box. I have it set up on my desk at work.
I sure don't remember seeing that Deft Rooster! He's beautiful!!!
