If you print colour so rarely then seriously consider the laser printer. You can get photos printed in many box stores these days for less than the price of paper and ink. You can even send them from the comfort of your computer chair. The lasers have come down considerably too. Last year one company (Dell?) had a special on for under $100 (OK so it was $99.95) The other downside to printing rarely with ink jets is the chance the nozzles will dry out on you through lack of ink passing through You will probably not find anything as sturdy as that old Epson C60, mine lasted forever and I just kept refilling the cartridges all the time, an amazing printer. Replaced it with the C82 and it went to the dump after only one black cartridge being used casting huge doubts about Epson.

Marie - I have a HP printer that takes the seperate ink tanks (although not the same ones as you) - when I run it out of ink, I have the same issue. Or if I have not used the printer for a while. To open the Toolbox - go to your start menu on your computer. That is the big "windows" button on the bottom left of your toolbar. Select ALL PROGRAMS and navigate to HP Solution Center. When that is open - choose "Settings" and then look for "Printer Toolbox" - When you get to the Toolbox - first "clean the printheads" - then "align the printheads" That usually fixes it for me. Sometimes I have to clean the printheads twice to get it printing good again. I am also able to access this from the buttons on my printer. There is a menu button on mine.

My previous HP printers only used black ink when I wanted to print black and grayscale. Unfortunately, that's not the case with many new models which are designed to use a portion of each color ink cartridge when printing black. The printer will not work until the color is replaced; then it requires that the cartridge be charged which depletes additional ink from each of the cartridges. Since the bulk of my printing is black only, I'm researching black laser printers and plan to replace my Epson inkjet even though it works fine.

Maybe it's a problem with the website that keeps you from printing it. Or you may need to install new printer drivers (available at hp.com). I just use the "Snipping Tool" to highlight what I want. That way, I can save the selection to my computer or paste it in Word to print it. The Snipping Tool on Vista is great, but if you have XP, you can download a free snipping tool. I only discovered this wonderful tool recently, and I think it's one of the coolest features yet!
