It may have been a complicated issue with the server.

If/when it happens again, you might consider switching to transworld network...aka epowerc.net. I liked them fine when I had dial-up and have even kept them as a back-up since getting local broadband wireless which sometimes goes out. I think the monthly cost is maybe $16.95 with no contract and tech support can get you all hooked up via a phone call with no installation disc needed. They also have a free accelerator you can download too.

A while back my broadband went out on a Thurs afternoon. Fri I was told it was a bad part on the tower and a new part had been ordered. Well I figured it would be express delivered for installation on Sat, or Monday at the latest since there were a lot of customers totally without service. No, it was sometime Tuesday before they got the part and got it installed and up and running. That's why I keep a dial-up as a back-up, plus the fact that I have by long distance with them (transworld) and get a really good price per minute and for the net, if I have paperless billing.

Glad they got you fixed. I would have been going nuts being snowed in with no net.

THANK you sooooo much for that info along with the link.
I will check it out. I quickly went to see if there was a number close to me to not be charged long distance and spotted one to where it may just be ok.

I'll tell you, it was a blessing in disguise as I finally started something I kept putting off.
"My project of emptying out my closet to go through stuff to get rid of and made/installed two shelves and just now got done painting everything".
"Now I can move in when dry". "lol"

Right now, I am lucky I can find my computer here as this room is full of stuff I have yet to go through.

I am a packrat so if I start saving opposed to getting rid of, I will stop and do it on a day I am brave enough to say no to keeping stuff that would be getting stored again.

Sad thing was, was the town library was closed Sat., Sun., and Monday if I desparately needed to get on the web.
Now I know how valuable a laptop can be in that I could have gone to a "hot spot" to get on the Internet. (smiles)

I keep the free Net Zero as a backup. Ten hours a month, which isn't much, but for no $ you can't beat that. I haven't needed to use it, but I do check it once in a while just to make sure it's working.

Thanks for the correction as I was teasing you.

However, in my own little thought process I do think too much emphasis is placed on the Internet by some. Except for perhaps a couple valid reasons, to travel or go on vacation and take a system with you?? To go through anxiety or withdrawals for the absence of the Internet regardless of circumstance??

For every minute a user sits in front of the screen is a minute one loses and can never reclaim as life passes you by. It's just like many other instances in life, moderation and perception.

Yes, computers can be enjoyable in a lot of ways but it sure can keep somone from getting badly needed work done around here.
