If history repeats itself it will begin selectively auto-upgrading in the next few days. Not all updating users will get the upgrade on-demand at the same time. Grisoft usually spreads it over a period so don't be concerned if you are not getting the upgrade with your normal updating. It might be over a couple weeks at a minmum. I for one do not see a major need to rush the upgrading at this time. I would recommend be patient. If you are familiar with FileHippo, you will see on RC's link that there isn't a Change Log tab so users don't even know what the changes are yet. They are more than likely minor fixes as the numeric change is still in the suffix. DA

That is what it is supposed to do - scan your computer and keep it safe. Mine is currently running and has just passed the 3 hour mark. There was a setting on version 7.5 to set the scan time but I do not see it on 8.5. Perhaps someone with a sharper eye can find it, I like mine to scan while I am sleeping usually.

Jean I installed MSE almost as soon as it came out in the final version and have no reason to want to change. I have no other safety program on this, my main computer. That is not to say anyone should follow suit and only have one. My wife's computer has MSE and Malwarebytes but I cannot remember the last time I ran a scan with that for her. I do update it occasionally of course. Last week for the first time MSE had a small fit, it did not auto update and I had to do it manually. Since then it has behaved itself. However, having a small glitch like that can tell us things, it placed an orange icon on my taskbar informing me of the issue so now I am comforted by knowing I can expect that icon in times of trouble. As with any free program you can install it to try and if you are unhappy it can easily be removed.

Response I I’ll provide some general thoughts as a lot of information is missing and I am not on site. I will also try to answer in a way that may benefit others contemplating geothermal for themselves. First, is this geothermal system properly sized for the ductwork it’s fitted to? If not, you will likely always have problems of one sort or another, particularly if the ductwork, both supply and return, are too small. That is irrespective of whatever type of heat pump is installed, geothermal or air-source. Do you have a proper ‘As Built Book’ that goes with this installation? An ‘As Built Book’ is a document that contains the system design, including heat gain/loss load calculations, including indoor/outdoor design temperatures specific to your geographic location, equipment owner/installation manuals, every detail of the ground loop design, and underground physical location of all its parts and components relative to above ground reference points that will likely remain unchanged for perhaps 100-years or more, GPS positions or both for future location in case of trouble. A proper ‘As Built Book’ (really a CD or DVD) should contain all details of the working fluid in the ground loops, including anti-freeze type and concentration. It should contain a parts list of every ground loop joint, coupling or elbow, type and size, as they contribute to fluid resistance in specific ways that have to be calculated for to determine the Reynolds number or turbulence of the liquid in the ground loops for proper (efficient) heat transfer with the ground. The type of borehole configuration must also be documented, as in series or parallel plumbing of the borehole HDPE pipes, as well as borehole depth, diameter, feet of well casing, etc. A driller’s log of ground conditions including depth of overburden till solid rock, ground anomalies encountered and at what depth (voids, boulders, rivers, etc.), type and method of grouting, including grout mixing procedures should also be documented and included. A picture should be taken - with the owner on-site - verifying the depth of each borehole - by taking a picture of the measured weighted tape drawn to the bottom of the borehole with the other end sticking out of the top of the borehole indicating the exact length in feet and inches out at the top of the borehole. Flow center type and configuration must also be documented along with plumbing schematic diagram including all cut off ball valves. All pipes must be properly labeled as to type and with clear arrows of flow direction. A proper ‘As Built Book’ should also contain detailed hi-rez pictures of EVERYTHING – EVERYTHING - including labels on unopened equipment boxes that arrive on-site with model and serial numbers to be verified against the details of your contract – before opening!
