Where did you purchase it at?

I believe the 2141 is the US version, and the 2142 is the Canadian version. Both seem to have the same features.

I bought it from the same (local) brick and mortar store as the KA. Basically told my salesman to find an in-stock equal or reasonable upgrade from the KA when I needed a quicker replacement.

Gray market, or common practice?
If I still get a warranty, I really don't care as long as the model is a reasonable equal to what I agreed on over the phone.

All Miele dishwasher come with a 1 year warranty. If it was installed by a Miele certified installation company, the you get 2 years of warranty. If you know the name of the company that installed it, you can call Miele and have them check if they are on their list, or Miele might as you to fax or mail a copy of the installation papers.
But you can always purchase the Miele 5 year extended warranty, which is $250, but it covers you for 5 years from the date of installation.

My dealer told me the installer was Miele certified. I'm in commercial construction, and I could tell he definitely knew what he was doing. I will follow up with a call though.

The registration card has both Canadian and US versions with the model and serial numbers hard printed on them. So I guess I'm covered.

Now I'm just curious why the 2142 isn't listed on the US site, and what differences there are. This my first experience with Miele, and I know my machine is not top tier, but it still seems like a solid product.

I have a 2142, purchased here in the USA last year. It was an in-store purchase. It works beautifully and is surprisingly quiet, given that it's the "loudest" of the Miele line. At the time, it was listed on the US site, because I looked it up and downloaded the user manual. At the moment, only the current models are on the Miele USA site, so they must be doing some work on it. If you Google the 2142, the model will come up at AJ Madison, Ira Woods, and a number of other US retail sites, so it was widely sold here in the USA.

In any case, I don't think you were "taken for a ride". It's a good machine and you have a warranty, it was a good transaction.

cj47 is correct. I too have a 2142 Inspira, purchased at The Great Indoors near Chicago earlier this year. It was a floor model because it's discontinued model. It's a perfectly fine dishwasher.

p.s. Miele has gone away with the 2nd year warranty on Miele certified installations.

As far as I can tell, the 2142 is the slightly older 2141. And the 2141 was just 'retired' in Miele-Speak. That in turn bumped the 2142 off their site. And now the Inspiras are the Classics, and so on.

If this is the noisy one, I can't imagine what the higher end quiet models don't sound like. Of course, I just got rid of a POS Frigidaire with a bad pump that was chewing itself apart.

Still getting used to the smaller interior - not as much room as the domestic brands.

dishwashers, there is a minor difference in the bottom tray configuration of the G2141 model versus G2142.
