take out the battery immediately, disconnect it from everything and turn it off once you open the back up put a fan blowing into it, dry the battery well and let it set out to dry well before trying it again. many use a blow dryer on low heat to blow into the laptop from keyboard and back side do not use high hot heat! the fan on it is the best idea

Follow RC's sound advise and I hope it resurrects the laptop.

I only hope others here learn from your unfortunate experience that no matter whether it is a laptop or a desktop, liquids and computer systems are not compatible. So take nothing for granted.

And yes, an accident can happen to any of us. So please members don't be cavalier.

Thanks. Before posting, I took the battery out and it was only a little wet. Dried it. Opened the only area in the back I could get off and dried what little water I saw on the rim. After posting, I plugged it in and turned it back on and it is working.

I just shut it back down in case there is more water somewhere that I can't get to. Don't need it to short circuit anything. I again removed the battery and one door to let whatever water that may be left to dry out with a fan blowing on it. Don't want to assume that because the computer comes on and Desktop appears, there still isn't water somewhere inside. I'll give it a while in case there's more water that I didn't see.

This was quite the accident. I usually don't keep drink so close to my computer for this very reason. SCARY!!

I would NOT try turning it on again for a while let it set and using some type of air circulation on it is highly recommended whether fan or blow dryer on low heat.

At least it wasn't a can of Coke...don't ask...

do not try to start it up before at least 2 weeks go by.

I would give it a month. And that's with a warm envionment
about 80F .. with a fan running.

At least it's water. That's a blessing. It should come
back unless you turn it on too soon.

Google video's , youtube, the other video sites all
should be visited for advice.

I feel your pain. I wrecked several keys on my laptop by spilling coffee on them. And yes, I don't usually have beverages near my machine, I had just momentarily gone off my routines and had my laptop somewhere it shouldn't have been. Only took a second. I HATE multitasking!

I'm back in business! Had a fairly high powered fan on it all night while it laid upside down with some of the doors off. Started it up this morning and all is fine. It's been running without incident for 2 hours now.

It wasn't alot of water, but it only takes a little. Most of the water went onto the desk and floor (thank God).

Geeze, I got lucky!!!!!

Now it's Water over the dam!

Next time make sure you spill deionized water.
So it doesnt leave your hard water mineral deposits on things.

Maybe a handful of those little umbrellas that they serve in those fancy drinks could be of some future preventative use.
