How are your bronze fixtures/faucets holding up?

I think I'm going to do bronze lighting and faucets so I was just wondering how they look after a while of use. Do they hide dirt and water spots well? Are you still loving them?

I have several bronze light fixtures (with an old world finish-several colors mixed) and Kohler bronze bath fixtures. So far, after 6 months, I still love them. The lighting is multi-colored, so dust doesn't seem very noticable, but I will admit that the bath fixtures show water spots. But they clean up great with a microfiber cloth and windex. I think as long as you stay on top of it, it won't be an issue any more than any other finish.

We've been in 10 months. Who knows about 5 years from now but for now-- so far so good. No chipping or discoloration. We're on well water that's horribly hard with a lot of sediment. Before we got our soft water system I noticed water spots but even then they came off with windex. Since getting the softener the spotting issues are minimal. My one big problem is my 3 shower heads spotting right on the jets but they seem to come clean fairly easy (it's just I need a step ladder to reach them). So I agree with superchick that it's a matter of keeping ahead of the game if you have hard water.
Our bathroom faucets are "Waterhill" from ShowHouse then we have 2 kitchen and 1 laundry "Aberdeen" pulldown faucets by Moen. If I had it to do over- I would buy ORB again.

Hi Sorry, I don't have any pics. I'm in the middle of a bath remodel but I will have chrome bathroom faucets. My vanity light is matte black and I will have 2 wall sconces that are matte black with brushed nickel accents. I have a couple of bathroom accessories that are chrome and brushed nickel also. I'm hoping it will all blend. I know I must be breaking all kinds of design rules but I did my best picking this stuff out and trying to keep within my budget:)

ORB bath towel bar, How do they hold up?

Thanks for the info everyone! We currently have a cheap chrome towel bar that gets heavy use and the finish is ok. For some reason I was just thinking the ORB would wear over time. It makes sense, like most things, to get better quality. I was fine with our current bar until some people here mentioned it wasn't long enough (24" - should be 30"). Once I "saw it" I planned to replace and the other will go to the thrift store. Oakley - My faucets are all chrome but that doesn't bother me honestly. I was thinking of just going with chrome and getting knobs that are chrome with a white face but then all my door knobs are builder brass! Oh and I painted the chrome light bars ORB. My curtain rod is antique brass but I could spray it ORB. See, I'm going to have a mix either way, which is fine. I just need to figure out which one it going to work better for me eye. I also don't have anything in my house that's chrome other than faucets. My bedroom all has antique brass. I lean toward the brass and orb stuff. I know we all should use what we love, etc. but does anyone think ORB will become dated eventually? How long has it been popular now? I think chrome is more timeless but I don't care for chrome (or antique pewter, satin nickle, etc.) against dark "painted" cabinets - which is what I have going on and why I was thinking the chrome with white face. I tried solid white knobs but thought they looked too chunky or something. They weren't working for me. I don't want to repaint anytime soon and hole patching and touch ups aren't something I've ever been able to have disappear. I've done so much painting in the past three months I don't want to ever do it again after this. Got on a ramblin roll there. :)

Who has used RH paint and how does it hold up?

Cyn, I think it has been around 10 years. It was whenever RH put their first store in my state. I walked in the store at the mall and instantly fell in love with the Silver Sage on the walls of the store. I had never even visited a decorating board website at that time so I did not learn about it here. I love their color palate and did every room in my house with RH except for one room that I wanted in a gray or charcoal. RH did not have their *Flint* line out yet at that time. I should have waited! :) I found RH paints to be one coat coverage. Great! If I ever have to repaint my ceilings white again I'm going with RH The Right White instead of that crappy "ceiling paint" I bought at the hardware store when I did it. One thing to keep in mind is that RH has a limited selection of colors. I think this is great because most of the "work" has been done for you with them narrowing down the choices to only what would be most popular. But............they don't keep all the colors around forever. Right now I have to repaint my whole bathroom. I changed out the lighting fixtures around the mirror and the new ones have a much smaller plate. I can't just do a touch up because they no longer sell the color. I'm really bumming because I have to pick a new color and the one I have on the walls now is perfect. It's kind of like finding out your favortie lipstick color or foundation has been discontinued and you have to start the search all over.

Patches: Yes, very handy that the soap dispenser can put soap in either sink with this set up. However, it looks like you'd HAVE TO use the pulldown on the faucet to fill the big sink or fill a pot sitting in the big sink. The "reach" of the faucet spigot only comes to the top of the sink bridge. Is that a good thing? Doesn't look so handy from my photo view of this set up.

I'm not having any problems with plumbing or light fixtures but the door handle that leads to the garage has sure taken a beating. I'm not sure how it got so scratched up as we don't use a key on that door. Kids....I guess!

We also don't have hard water so I'm sure that helps with the faucets.

Jewelry and keys beat up most door knobs (and car door handles). Unlock the door and open it with the same hand and the keys will hit the knob. Every ring on your hand will scratch the knob. I'm not saying "Stop wearing jewelry", just that the most used entry door in your house will usually take a beating.
