AVG Not Compatible with ThunderBird

A while back a member posted their concern regarding AVG Mail Scanner no longer being compatible with Thunderbird Mail. I'm sorry I don't remember who it was. I paid interest in the thread as I too had the same concern, and unfortunately no one was able to resolve it.

I have now found the work-around if anyone still needs it.

It appears the member requiring this information has not been present. I've got it on record if and when it comes up again, and it will from what I read.

4. Mozilla Thunderbird plugin
A few AVG users noticed the E-mail Scanner Thunderbird plugin is not compatible with the most recent Mozilla Thunderbird version. Please be informed the Thunderbird plugin development is going to be discontinued as it brings no significant benefits to Thunderbird users comparing to the Personal e-mail scanner plugin.

Please remove the Thunderbird plugin and install Personal e-mail scanner plugin for Mozilla Thunderbird (and for other e-mail client applications except MS Outlook which has its own plugin). More information on e-mail scanner plugins can be found in FAQ 4448 http://www.avg.com/faq.num-4448

Hey, You you paid for this, then it will give full access, I don't know what happen to this, I face this problem, when I purchased 'Adware Alert' anti-spyware from www.adwarealert.com and I also paid it for full access, but they were rogue, and i just wasting my time and money.. well, you also contact their website for the detail. actually AVG 8.5 is the latest version out, there were some early reports on some of the other forums I am on of problems, I know they were working on them. So if you do get AVG make sure you get the latest version avg 8.5.278 released I no longer use AVG just had too many problems when the went to 8. They decided to compile several tools into one with 8 rather than just leaving it the good stand alone AV product it was and that was the mistake. They had a great AV and a great product in Ewido and trying to combine it all together with some other items just conflicted with too many systems. I now use AVAST free and love it. you will want to read these AVG FAQ sheets prior to install to find out how to do it with out the link scanner and things that are causing problems. FAQ As with most things pc related it might work just great for some but really cause others a very bad day, I personally just can not discount the number of people who did have some bad days. You might visit Softpedia and try the download for microsoft security essentials (freeWare). Its Beta but looks like out of 75,000 users on the beta program, way fewer than half percent actually have problems and most are thrilled with it. Well except for one guy that thinks its too simple.

"...and it was still running." Suggests that the Avg software has a bug or that your computer is overloaded versus memory or disk space. Suggest removing Avg, download a new version and run it with out special scheduling to see that it will get finished in a more reasonable time. And, have you run Malwarebytes or other virus checkers?

That material may be pertinent, but I have located and confirmed about a three click, two character entry that works out just fine. It's so easy even I can do it.
