Addict Thing

This pops up on eBay and on Craigslist whenever I search for something. More annoying than helpful. I cannot find it in my list of programs and thus the uninstall instructions on their website are useless- probably quite intentional. Most of the stuff on their website is just baloney.
Is this on my computer or on the websites I visit? How to get rid of it permanently?

What brower are you using..
maybe;;;; Go thru all the browsers I guess.. the PlugIn's and add-on's and extensions and toolbars. They probably all have it.

You're probably cookied up too... clear the cookies and temporary internet files.

Right click your desktop and look at Gadgets Menu ??

If you have CCleaner look in the program startup section and its tabs.

Sounds like this or at least it's what I found googling and tells how to remove. I run malewarebytes after removing this type of stuff. Mary

Still waiting on my Purple Rose to open as well as my Luang Siam Yellow. Driving me crazy with the wait. But any day now. Here's a Purple Rose that opened that I had picked up for my sister. The flower buds are smaller than mine and looks like the petals are a little more pointed and jagged than what mine will be. For years and years I used to be a paint addict until I came to the twelve steps...err the twelve foot ceiling house. Now I'm not liking it so much and have decided I need people. I loved the glazing and mural days though and I was very good at multi layering for depth. I miss those days. The older I get the more sensitive I am to anything unnatural on my skin or breathing paint fumes. I think all my years of diy have taken their toll. I will suffer to paint a canvas but do not enjoy the ladder or my joints after doing tall walls. Painting is a nice immediate gratification in most ways and I will be the labor for the easier eight foot ceiling in my sons place. I do wish I loved painting as much as I used to. My poor husband tried to be one of my people and paint for me but I am a nightmare micro manager on painting walls and trim so I had to fire him. It truly drives me mad if things are not prepped properly or if someone starts at the very top of a wall with a very wet roller and works down so you get dried drippies. I tried to teach him the X and to paint from that,but he can only go up and down, Its in his genes of something.

Ole Joyful - THANK YOU!!! To everyone else too. The encouragement is very much needed. I think I'm so far ahead of the game right now because of the surgery. As I mentioned, I'm having so much trouble breathing that I'm thinking about getting a temp handicapped sticker. My Dr. agreed. So, as much trouble as it has been, it is good that I can't smoke - I can't even inhale enough to enjoy it. Another thing that is helping - I had an abnormal chest xray but don't know why yet. It was done in the hospital but the Dr. there never told me about the results. The discharge papers said that I needed to check with my PC to follow up on the abnormal CXR. I signed to have them fax the results to my PC. But she was on VAC, and apparently the results were never sent to her. She called to get the results but was out of the office when they came in. Her nurse told me that she had seen the results but hadn't done anything with it. I learned Friday that I have to have a repeat test this week, but the first one didn't show much of anything. My PC thinks that what they saw was a result of surgery. Plus it's bilateral. Usually for CA, it's one side; not both. So, that's another reason for me to stop NOW. Also my neighbor just lost her Mom and Dad (same month) Mom, because of smoking, and when Mom passed, found out another relative may have it too. Soooooo, everyone, please stop smoking. I lot my best friend and love of my life because of it. My Dad smoked since 8yrs old and is now 85. No CA, but COPD. His Dad smoked cigars but no CA. So yes, you can smoke and not get CA. BUT, I'm on a soapbox while I have the nerves of steel to conquer it. So smokers, please stop. It is pretty scary to have someone tell you that you are going to die in 3 mos, and mean it. That said, all smoker's rally, rally, rally - take my hand. We'll all hold hands until the urge is gone. I promise, I'll never let go. For all the kids - teens and 20s, put out those butts, please. It takes sometime 30 -40 years to feel the affects of smoking. You may not get CA but smoking does diminish lung capacity and a whole lot of stuff you don't feel until you are in your 50s and 60s. OK - nuf said. I'll sit down for now. But seriously folks, if you can, please try to stop. If you see young folks smoking - especially the teens, please discourage them. I too wish I had never started smoking. They will too when they get to be my age.

I wish we had one more big tree in the backyard so we could do the whole backyard in hostas. We'll be able to take half of what's left of the grass for them and do the other part in sun plants at least. Hostas are my favorite. And fortunately my husband feels the same way so I don't have to fight too much to have more.

Mary, the site you linked has a very poor rating from WOT. I think this is because they try to get you to download something. However, they do give instructions for manually removing, but OP has written that it is not listed in his ADD/REMOVE in Control Panel.

I would be very leery of downloading something from such a website.

My browser is Mozilla Firefox. I ran CCleaner just this past Monday. I just bought and ran MalwareBytes since my free trial ran out a couple of moths ago. It found nothing. I am trying to grasp all that mikie posted-- most of those are things I know nothing about.

Oops didn't see that was just looking that they showed how to uninstall instructions. In googling I think it's a browser add on? If it were me I would run malewarebytes and see what it finds and look in the browser for add ons. There were many more places on google that talked about it. Mary

Wait did malewarebytes change and it's not free anymore? Haven't ran it in a few weeks but the one I use was never a trial and always completely free. I use the one that says free download and it has never asked me to pay. Mary

malwarebytes is free I am concerned what you bought. There's a pay version but what you are describing doesn't sound right.

Malewarebytes pro has a 14 day free trial. Maybe that's what they are using. Mary

I was having a similar type of annoyance and I found a Firefox Addon for Adblock Plus called Adblock Plus Popup. You just right click on anything that shows up and select "block this site" and that's it.
Maybe someone knows if it has any issues?

Finally clicked on "Tools" on the browser. Click on "Add Ons" in the drop down -- there was Addict Thing and some other stuff. Click "Remove." Seems to be gone. It possibly would be helpful at times but was very intrusive and annoying.

My computer has Internet Explorer which I rarely use. IE did not have the Addict Thing. As best I remember, the Addict Thing was found at "Extensions" on Mozilla.

Look in add remove for buzzdock because from what I read it comes with that add on. Glad you got rid of it. Wonder how it got there in the first place if you didn't install it? Mary
