temporary file cleaner

would some kind soul give me the proper link to something called Temporary File Cleaner or Checker" not sure what it's called. know on old computer it was TFC, and the proper link for the real Avast. this laptop had Norton which is expired and I had Avast on old computer and liked it. I'm asking for the links so I don't want to get a copycat site. Thanks oh and is Norton hard to get rid of?

Glad you asked.

Clean out your temporary internet files and temp files.

Download TFC by OldTimer click Here to your desktop. Click the Save file tab, save it to the desktop. Then double click it to run it.

Double-clickTFC.exe to run it.

Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator

TFC will close all programs when run, so make sure you have saved all your work before you begin

* Click the Start button to begin the cleaning process.
* Depending on how often you clean temp files, execution time should be anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or two.
* Please let TFC run uninterrupted until it is finished.

Once TFC is finished it should restart your computer. If it does not, please manually restart the computer yourself to ensure a complete cleaning.

What TFC does

TFC (Temp File Cleaner) will clear out all temp folders for all user accounts (temp, IE temp, java, FF, Opera, Chrome, Safari), including Administrator, All Users, LocalService, NetworkService, and any other accounts in the user folder. It also cleans out the %systemroot%\temp folder and checks for .tmp files in the %systemdrive% root folder, %systemroot%, and the system32 folder (both 32bit and 64bit on 64bit OSs). It shows the amount removed for each location found (in bytes) and the total removed (in MB).

Before running, it will stop Explorer and all other running applications. When finished, if a reboot is required the user must reboot to finish clearing any in-use temp files.
-- TFC only cleans temp folders.
-- TFC will not clean URL history, prefetch, or cookies. Depending on how often someone cleans their temp folders, their system hardware, and how many accounts are present, it can take anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or more. TFC will completely clear all temp files where other temp file cleaners may fail.

thank you so much, now if I may ask for the proper links to superantispyware (something like that) also the malware bites and darn there was one more and I can't recall the name, you didn't have to do anything except keep it updated and it blocked spyware from getting through, thanks

CCleaner will clean a few more things than you've done. This is the cleaner list: Under the Issues Tab, you can clean up the registry. Under the Tools Tab, under startup, you can check out what programs are starting up and running in the backgroud. Usually there are unnecessary programs starting up and running that just slow you down. About the only thing you need to run at startup are the firewall and anti-virus and maybe a select program or two. If you do decide to download and install, on the setup watch for and uncheck to install google or find the slim version. CCleaner is a very good small program, I use it all the time.

Hi casi, You used the search option and lots of junk was found, lets delete it all. Please rescan with AdwCleaner. Double-click AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool. Click Delete this time. Everything that was found will be deleted. Save and open files and approve the reboot. A text file will open after the restart. Please post the contents of that logfile with your next reply.

Temporary laundry-cold water wash question

Re: Cold water 1) does a great job and 2) saves $$. 1) See "The Case for Cold" in the article linked below. Some of the major appliance manufacturers do not agree that cold-water washing works for everything. 2) Assuming electric heating, and 5 gallons of wash water, how much energy does it take to heat water from cold (65F) to warm (104F) or hot (120F)? My quick calculation gives around 0.5 KWH for warm, and 0.7 KWH for hot. Let's say you do one wash a day, half of them warm, and the other half hot. Then you would use 219 KWH per year to heat wash water. At a rate of 20 cents/KWH (more than many of us pay) that would cost $44/year. Multiply by 3, for a non-HE machine, and it's $132/year. At a rate of 10 cents/KWH, the cost of water heating is $22/year for an HE machine, and $66/year for a non-HE machine. Cost for gas water heating might be lower. The best way to proceed with the Norton removal is to first download Avast, don't install it right away. Download it to get the set-up file on the desktop. Once that is complete, go get the Norton removal tool. Download that and run it, when finished double click that Avast Set-file you downloaded previously.

Should not be a problem!
