temporary file cleaner

would some kind soul give me the proper link to something called Temporary File Cleaner or Checker" not sure what it's called. know on old computer it was TFC, and the proper link for the real Avast. this laptop had Norton which is expired and I had Avast on old computer and liked it. I'm asking for the links so I don't want to get a copycat site. Thanks oh and is Norton hard to get rid of?

Glad you asked.

Clean out your temporary internet files and temp files.

Download TFC by OldTimer click Here to your desktop. Click the Save file tab, save it to the desktop. Then double click it to run it.

Double-clickTFC.exe to run it.

Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator

TFC will close all programs when run, so make sure you have saved all your work before you begin

* Click the Start button to begin the cleaning process.
* Depending on how often you clean temp files, execution time should be anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or two.
* Please let TFC run uninterrupted until it is finished.

Once TFC is finished it should restart your computer. If it does not, please manually restart the computer yourself to ensure a complete cleaning.

What TFC does

TFC (Temp File Cleaner) will clear out all temp folders for all user accounts (temp, IE temp, java, FF, Opera, Chrome, Safari), including Administrator, All Users, LocalService, NetworkService, and any other accounts in the user folder. It also cleans out the %systemroot%\temp folder and checks for .tmp files in the %systemdrive% root folder, %systemroot%, and the system32 folder (both 32bit and 64bit on 64bit OSs). It shows the amount removed for each location found (in bytes) and the total removed (in MB).

Before running, it will stop Explorer and all other running applications. When finished, if a reboot is required the user must reboot to finish clearing any in-use temp files.
-- TFC only cleans temp folders.
-- TFC will not clean URL history, prefetch, or cookies. Depending on how often someone cleans their temp folders, their system hardware, and how many accounts are present, it can take anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or more. TFC will completely clear all temp files where other temp file cleaners may fail.

thank you so much, now if I may ask for the proper links to superantispyware (something like that) also the malware bites and darn there was one more and I can't recall the name, you didn't have to do anything except keep it updated and it blocked spyware from getting through, thanks

Hi casi, You used the search option and lots of junk was found, lets delete it all. Please rescan with AdwCleaner. Double-click AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool. Click Delete this time. Everything that was found will be deleted. Save and open files and approve the reboot. A text file will open after the restart. Please post the contents of that logfile with your next reply.

Be extremely careful deleting duplicate files with any program. I read stories of people doing this with EasyCleaner and end up having to format their harddrive and reinstall the operating system. Take a close look at the so called duplicates that ToniArts EasyCleaner finds, in reality all the files listed are not duplicates. Below is just a short example of so called duplicates. Notice each file is different and they expect you to check them and delete. Not me, no way, I want my programs to work. That's why they warn you to save in the recycle bin in case something doesn't work, but how often do you check all your programs before you empty the recycle bin.

Good job calirose! So many people don't even think to clear out their temp. files. I use 2 really good programs to do that. The 1st is Ccleaner: Download href="http://majorgeeks.com/CCleaner_Slim_d4191.html">Ccleaner if you don't have it already. Install and use with the default settings. NOTE: Ccleaner includes a Registry cleaner, and we advise not to use this or any registry cleaner as there have been reports of them clearing out needed registry entries and messing up PCs. In addition, what they do clean up is so small that little or no advantages are noticed. 2nd is TFC (Temporary File Cleaner by OldTimer): TFC-Temporary File Cleaner Double-click TFC.exe to run it. My Temporary Kitchen

Our temp kitchen was the best. We set up a 10 x 10 pop-up on the patio and put the old over-peninula cabs along one side and folding tables along 2 more sides. The microwave shared a table with the Coleman 2-burner propane stove. The other table was prep space and dish drying. The 'fridge was plugged in in the living room, and the stove and dining table just took up space in the living room. We did the tiered shelves outside the tent and threw a plastic sheet over it as necessary. Running water was available in the garage set tub. Then we went on a 5-day camping trip. Funny, we just took down the tent, packed up the Coleman stove, pulled stuff off the tiered shelves, and set up our temp kitchen as a camp kitchen. Amazing. The only difference in the temp kitchen and the camp kitchen was ice chests and walking a little further for the water. P.S. After the new kitchen was in, I found myself still heading to the LR for refrigerated items. That's OK, for a while every time I needed the 9x11 pan, I reached up to the over-peninsula cabs which were no longer there.

The best way to proceed with the Norton removal is to first download Avast, don't install it right away. Download it to get the set-up file on the desktop. Once that is complete, go get the Norton removal tool. Download that and run it, when finished double click that Avast Set-file you downloaded previously.
