Ah, Sandy. I still have OS 8.6 functional on a Mac II CI. Still, I don't ever use the machine anymore, because it is soooooo slow! On the other hand, my Power Mac G4 400, is now an "old" machine also, and I have upgraded the OS to vs. 10.2.8, but that's as far as I can go, without a new machine. It is a never ending money pit, but new machines are unavoidable, just to stay connected to the web and email. Even your ISP will not support systems but sooooo old, and if you want things to work well, you are forced to upgrade at some point. I can tell you that you won't need anything more than an iMac, today, to get very adequate capabilities on a Mac. I can also tell you that the price gap between wintel and Mac has all but disppeared, if you compare functionality to funtionality. In fact, at work, I actually had to pay more for a Dell, that did the same job as a Power Mac G5. (smile) If you have an Apple store anywhere near you, it might be worth checking a new machine out. (Or a Fry's superstore, although they won't be able to offer as much help to you, as the Apple store, in looking at what the new machines will do.) Otherwise, my favorite on-line folks are Small Dog. Best support out there.....including Apple. (smile)

The question is, from where did you download this newer version? It is quite possible that it contained malware of some sort, because what is happening to you is not normal. Have you run any scans with AV programs and spyware programs? If not, do so immediately to make sure you're not infected with something.

this is all info for AVAST the I ball that is beside the blue A ball you want to right click that and tell it to join the A ball, can not remember the terminology but it will just make one ball, you can also drag it onto the A ball to do that. You will need to change the proxy settings in your IE browser so that your web shield is working properly. here are the directions for how to do that Configuration of the Web Shield HTTP proxy If you bring up Avast screen with a regular left click then click details it will open up so you can see the various aspects, it should be set to High sensitivity then if you scroll down on the left to the web shield if you see no activiity and zero counted then you know you have to set up that proxy as instructed in my link, if you do not that part is not working and you want that to work. Following the directions is very very easy I have had to do it on all of mine.

When you specify a font for a web page you have to remember that people who look at your site MUST have the specified font installed on their computer, otherwise default font for the browser (user may be able to specify a default font). So when you use a font like Jester, I doubt that many people will have the font, so most people will see it in Times New Roman. I assume that when you say Netscape, you are referring to version 4.x or lower, not version 6 or higher (totally different browser, only name is the same). As for the size, I suspect that it is honoring it, but it may appear that it is not. This is one of the problems with trying to format web pages for different browsers. Size 3 may mean one size in IE and another in Netscape 4.x and another in Netscape 6. Also size 3 may be different on Mac verses PC. Good thing about your page is that font is changeable by the user (I hate going to sites which uses tiny fonts with bad contrasting background and can't change the font size using view/text size), so just think of size being relative size to each other on the same page and not worry about with it actually renders on a users browser. However since this site is for seniors, I suggest that you increase the size to 5 for header and 4 for main text. Better yet, use h1 tags for the heading and leave off the font size for the body of the text or use +1. Dan
