Canadian help needed, cannot connect to some sites

Below are links to 3 websites that refuse to load for me. Could another Canadian please try and let me know if they can access the site. These are sites offering free web page hit counters, nothing out of the ordinary.

I am assuming Americans would have no problem connecting. My other question of course is why would sites like these restrict access to American users only- assuming they are doing it and not my ISP. And if my ISP then again, why?

What I get is:
1st link: Hit counter data sheet
2nd link: East Counter login sheet
3rd: Website for Hitcounters
Never went any farther than the initial loading page.

Thanks a bunch Gene. Guess I shall have to get the fire going and send a smoke signal to Cogeco and ask what is happening.

Before you go spending money, let's try a few things. When you took your router to default, everything worked fine. When you use a pass phrase, you get to the internet but web sites don't load. I have a copy of your router manual in front of me so let's try a few steps. 1------Log onto your router 2------Under the wireless setup make sure the SSID reads NETGEAR 3------Make sure the operating channel for the wireless mode.is Auto. 4------ Leave the wireless mode set to the default setting of Up to 145Mbps for 2.4GHz. 5------ Select security options for the 2.4GHz wireless network.The wireless Security Options are set to None by default. 6-----use WPA2-PSK as your security option. 7----- enter the following as your passphrase wndr3400 make all letters lower case. Select APPLY at the bottom of the screen. Under DIAGNOSTICS, select the REBOOT option. Once the router reboots, close out all your screens and reboot you computer. When prompted for a passphrase enter wndr3400 all letters must be lower case. Please post back and let us know if that did the trick.

Do you have webspace (a host), a place to put your webpages? Most likely you do have, it isn't hard to get. Even your ISP (Internet Service Provider) probably has some to offer that comes with your membership, whether it is suitable for your needs is another matter. Don't be silly, being a senior isn't a disadvantage to building a website! The PayPal option isn't hard to do. First you sign up for the service which I think involves giving them some financial info. (bank acct. or credit card acct. I think), then you copy and paste a bit of code (where you want it) into your site and the button appears and is ready for use. We're in rural Alberta, a six-hour roundtrip from the nearest big city. We went with Bluestar because it has few bells and whistles and electronics to break down. We'd been using a 1950s O'Keefe & Merritt in our old house for the previous 25 years, and any problems -- broken hinge in the oven door, etc. -- was easily fixed. We wanted something similar for our new house, but with a larger oven and more burners. We bought ours from the Bluestar dealer in Edmonton. Depending on what's available in your area, have you considered a Bluestar from Costco dot ca? growing trees indoors can be very tricky ... one trick is to use a media for trees.. which is not like yours.. a tree media sheds water and retains less.. as most trees prefer ... they are not water loving houseplants .. you almost treat them like cactus ... the other problem is light intensity ... indoors ... check out a bunch of these ... and learn all you can ... they make it sound like its the easiest houseplant in the world to grow.. so what do i know .... but if you start having issues.. remember what i said .... its the first 2 issues i would wonder about .... ken https://duckduckgo.com/?q=coffee+houseplant&t=ffab&ia=web ps: any green on a leaf means that leaf is still doing its job of converting light into energy... dont go cutting them off because they are ugly ... until it starts putting out new leaves to replace them ... in other words.. ignore your brown edged and boo boos... for now ...

Wow, now Horton says he is with Cogeco and gets those sites I am confused. Guess I'll start checking some settings here.

Sorry DA I don't drink Canadian suds but I do have a few Jamaican Dragon Ales here. They are similar to Guinness but so much smoother. Thanks everyone, appreciate the help.

The next thing you will share with us is you don't like hockey. If you don't I can assure you that the PM will exile you to PEI. I guess its better than the Northwest Territories eh?

owbist, I'm sure you have researched these free counters and I was wondering if they are malware free too. I had a free counter on my website a couple years ago and the site closed so I lost it because the code was no longer supported. I really would like to put a new one on again, but the word "free" these days always seems to have garbage attached *lol*

BTW, I could access all 3 sites and that was when I was using my MSNTV unit which is IE5 and on dialup.

the links worked for me too and I am in Texas. have you tried statcounter? I use it on some of my websites.

Ravencajun, even that site refuses to open for me, thanks anyway. I got smart and told the group whose web site I am doing to download it themselves then they do not need to give me the password to their email address. Problem solved.

MSN, I too get curious about how those offering web counters earn money. They need the hits returned to them so they can evaluate the times on pages and new or returning hits for us to analyse so we have little choice. Having used them for a few short years I have found no reason to give them up regarding Spam or the like and they do provide valuable feedback.

owbist Thanks for your insite. I'm like you and wonder what they are getting in return for their "free" service. Unlike other free services like anti-virus etc. who also have an "enhanced" version hope people will like their product enough to upgrade.

Maybe raven could give us her opinion on this subject too ;o)

Wondering, if you might have encountered a virus or malware that you AV has picked up. Maybe try an online virus scan just for the heck of it. I have linked Housecall, but there are a couple others out there
