Pictures in emails

I now have Windows 7, Grrrr! With it is Windows Live Mail.

I receive emails with pictures fine, but if I want to forward them, I get a pop up saying one or all of the pictures cannot be found, do you want to send anyway? I have sent it to myself just to see what happens and sure enough there are no pictures only red x's. Does anyone

know what is causing this and how can it be fixed?

Please be patient with W7 as it is a fine O/S and you are certain to eventually become comfortable with it. I am going to guess that XP was your first computing experience, and you climbed the mountain of learning once before hoping never to have to do it again. Well, every new O/S brings different experiences so we all have to live with the changes. As the release of W8 is on the horizon we will all have to go through some adaptation again. Change is inevitable as progress prevails. Hang it there as you will do fine.

I don't know a thing about Live Mail as I don't use it. Someone will be along shortly who can point you in the right direction.

Somewhere in your mail preferences is a place to check/uncheck the choice to strip images, or not, from forwarded emails.

Had trouble opening WMP also, so used Microsoft Fix it. This fixed both the WMP problem and the problem of inserting pictures into OE. Now both problems fixed. I'm keeping a Fix it icon on my desktop from now on.

If you used the right click method to send a single photo then here is the way to send multiple photos in one email Create your email in the usual way. Click the paper clip showing at the top of your screen and a small window appears. At the top is says Look in: beside a small menu window, click the down arrow to the right and select the folder where your needed photos are stored. Now look down the list, click on the first photo you would like to send. Hold down the Control (or CTRL) key while you click on each of the other photos you wish to send. Once they are selected release the Control button and click Attach. Done. Caution, try to stay below 4 megabytes total as this is the allowable limit for some internet providers. All that happens if you send too much they just return it to you saying you are in excess of their allowable limit. If you wish to 'insert' a photo or photos in the body of the email instead of attaching you can. Create your email and have the cursor in the body of the message where you want the photo to appear, click Insert at the top of the screen, click Picture in the drop down menu and a new window pops up. Click the Browse button and select your photo. Click OK. Done, repeat as needed to add other pictures or photos.

very true if you change it then you are degrading the quality of the actual picture, if she wants the high quality to print you need to send full size and she needs to use that image. However those images will be a large size file so will take much longer to go in email and will be large in her inbox, if any of you use dial up it will be slow doing it that way. I use one of the power toys by Microsoft that will allow you to just right click on any picture you have on your pc and select resize from the list and there it gives you choices as to the size, it then creates a new copy of your picture in that size. There is a version for Vista. Image Resizer Powertoy for Vista! Image Resizer Powertoy or you can use this one VSOImage Resizer

Sorry I can't help you with your problem, I use WLM and haven't had that problem.

I will agree, be patient with it. It is a great system, it is just different. I hated Windows Live Mail and just a few days ago I found out how to create my own narrow tool bar instead of switching back and forth with the big menus. I love the search bar in the start menu.

Thanks Raven, I can always count on you for all my questions. I never noticed that icon before.

DA, no XP was not my first, I have been on the computer for 45 years; so long I don't even remember what was before XP.

I only discovered them in the early 80's when I seen the Apple at the "Team Electronics" store here.

I didn't know they had a home computer back then either, but that doesn't mean anything.

The first computer I had was like a huge box it must have been 3' x 3' and used about a 12" floppy disc. My next one used a 6" floppy disc. It has been so long ago I don't even remember the brand. I am on my 3rd Dell and have a Dell laptop, I have come a long way baby!!! LOL!!

If you don't like Live Mail download Thunderbird or set up a google email account. There are many email accounts out there.

I just got a new laptop computer and I just love it. Windows 7, HP computer with all the bells and whistles. I love Windows 7 and I downloaded IE 9 love it also. I thought Vista was great but W7 is better.

My first computer I got back in the Early 90's and the window was Windows 3.1 anyone remember that one?

ARG,

As always I yield to experience. My guess was generated by readings, and experience with remediations and assistance. XP was the largest O/S delivered to first time users, particularly seniors.
