My Thanksgiving table

I struggled all afternoon yesterday trying to get a Thanksgiving setting done. I finally got frustrated when I couldnÂt get it to look like I wanted it to, so I just made a few changes to the setting I previously had on the table.

I added a brown topper over the white tablecloth.

I used white chargers and exchanged the white and amber plates for QueenÂs Myott Thanksgiving salad plates and Indiana Recollection dinner plates. The glasses belong to my aunt and are also Indiana Recollection. I'm sort of disappointed that the color of the plates doesn't show up better. I had thought they would against the white chargers.

I added in a turkey figurine and placed sparkly bronze colored pears at each setting. They would work for holding place cards, but since it's just the four of us, we all know where we sit. lol!

Thank you for all your nice comments. This was a fun table to put together using pieces I have gathered over the last 32 years. Obviously I don't throw anything out! The brown goblets were my registry choice for my wedding 32 years ago. Remember the 70's and everything brown? The gold chargers were Target clearance about 18 years ago. The gold leaf glasses were thrift store finds about the same time. The beaded placemats and leaf plates were TJ finds last year. The s&p's I've picked up over the years at after holiday clearance. The copper colander I used for the centerpiece was a GS find. I had wanted to use a real pumpkin hollowed out for my vase but none to be found in the grocery the night before Thanksgiving. My favorite piece was my "tablecloth". I found that Sunday at Hancocks (fabric store) on the 50% off remnant table. I placed it diagonally over the table and didn't even hem it. I just "fringed" the cut ends. I decided I wanted something paisley from doing the lessons in Judith's class. I would not have used as many layers before doing her assignments. It's fun to combine all the different elements. Previously I would not have thought to combine the gold chargers with the copper beaded placemats but I liked how it turned out. Now......on to the serious holiday decorating!!!

kathleen - I love the whimsy. Your table is wonderful. Great eye with the coloring and the scarecrows are adorable. I am thinking of trying Michael's at a different location today. Great idea to take the mini twig wreaths and hot glue. I can do that:))). If I can't find the orange berries to match the table garland, I may use another fall color and buy extra to incorporate into the table garland. I am going to look at the fall pics as well as they can be taken apart and glued onto the mini wreaths. Still debating on the tablecloth/napkins (and probably will be until the day). I put the leaves in the table last night to see how the table cloth looked and I really like it. The color is the exact color I want/need. I was thinking about doing a basket of the bundled napkins with the silverware pre-wrapped. I have some nice baskets to accomodate the napkin bundles on the buffet. It may work out okay if the table is not "set" and my guests are getting their napkin bundles from the buffet?

Many thanks to you all for your kind words! Kathleen, the glasses are part of the crystal we got when we were married, almost 26 years ago. I love the pattern and am always happy when I can use it. Superchick, you're in NM, too? How wonderful! What part? Sheesharee: I got the runner several years ago. Can't remember where, as I have many of them. I'm a bargain hunter, though, so it had to be at Marshalls or TJMaxx, etc. Karen, I'm honored that you think it's nice enough for our Inspirations album. DD, I was thinking about the placemat situation, too. Just today I saw Slinkey's Thanksgiving table and got inspired. I love her lace placemats and think they'd work perfectly for my own table. I got so excited I hit a button and wiped out my whole post! YOU GOT IT GOING ON!!! Yacht, I'm jealous! That turkey centerpiece is sooooo pretty. I LOVE how you presented your napkins. And the colors of the bows and flowers pull the color right out of the centerpiece and runner and brings it all together BEAUTIFULLY!! I am SERIOUSLY wanting your glasses!!! They go so well with your placemats. Target had all different colors back in the summer. I picked up the red and put them in my basket. Before I left I went to put them back because I didn't want to spend the money and DD said, "No Mom. Don't put them back. Buy them if you want them." I'm sure glad I listened to her because that was the last time I've seen that style in any color, anywhere. Soooo.... If I came to your house I would whine to borrow your's!!! I know your GKIDS are ohhhing and ahhhing over this one. I sure am. I have the same style chargers in a bronze color on my table now! But, I'm sure you found a great price for your's while I paid retail at Burlington Coat Factory. If we lived close I would be begging to tag along with you to the yardsales. I'll have to remember how good the placecards look on the corner of them and steal.. I MEAN ..borrow that idea from you!! Did you print your own placecards or buy them like that? They are perfect. I love the mood-lighting with the candles and how the light from above reflects on everything. Of all of your tablesscapes, I think this is my all time favorite. It is elegant, floral, rustic, romantic and you still have room for some serving dishes if you chose to bring them to the table. You won't have to be jumping up and down. You were right to frame your pictures. I think I would IRL take some 8X10s and frame them to use as decorations in the fall in future years. Shucks no, a poster would be better. Uhhhmm... On second thought... That turkey centerpiece really doesn't look very good at all. And I know you've run out of storage space. So.... just send it to me and I will store it for you. OK? OK. DREAM! DREAM!! DREAM!!!

You are the answer to my prayers. Well, one of them anyway! LOL

I must know all about your glasses. Aunt B had just one and I haven't been able to find anymore, anywhere, or find any info about them. I'm going to go write down 'Indiana Recollection' down right now and stick it in the glass so I will at least remember the name to search for now!!

I have some little saucers to go with your pink dinner plates. I also, was bummed because the color doesn't show up as much as I want it to. I was hunting for the green salad plates exactly like your pink dinners and the pink dessert dishes for a tablescape I was trying to copy.

Oh Girl, I didn't mean to highjack your Thanksgiving tablescape post, but you have NO IDEA how frustrated I've been trying to find these glasses!

I've been all over creation with my 1 little glass to every GW, TS, SA, and antique shop trying to find them.

You know I love that centerpiece from all of the gushing I did in your other post. Adding Mr Turkey really made it Thanksgiving. He's sooo cute!

Great minds think alike. I think we all fell for those lovely turkey plates this year. I know I did!

I LOVE all of your candlelight shots. What a beautiful table to enjoy Thanksgiving at. Wish all of us here could gather our families and tables together and have one big Thanksgiving celebation.

Very nice, Love what you did, and you were right, the brown topper finished the look perfectly, I know what you mean when you have the whole table pulled together and you think that something is off and you rack your brain to figure out how to "finish" it, its always such a great feeling when you pull it off. I love layering and you have accomplished that so well.

Betty, yes your goblet is identical to mine! Indiana Glass made them in the 1980's and the pattern is called Recollection. It's a reproduction of the Madrid depression glass pattern. They were sold in WM type stores.

The glasses originally belonged to my grandmother. She loved pretty dishes and glassesÂmust be where I got my obsession from. My aunt never married and always lived with my grandparents, so she ended up with most of my grandmother's dishes after she died. My aunt only does one setting a year, at Christmas and itÂs always red, so most of her dishes never get used now. I think she enjoys letting me borrow my grandmotherÂs stuff just to see it used again. I think my grandmother would be happy too.

Indiana made several different pieces in this pattern. A set of the hurricane candleholders is on my list to buy before I use these again. IÂm sending you a link to the pattern on ebay. There are some goblets listed on there now.

Your table is beautiful and I love your turkey plates, pink plates and glasses. I'm a pink fan to the end and those are some of the prettiest turkey plates I've seen. The brown table cloth looks great.

Betty, I hope you can finish off your sets and I'll be waiting to see your tablescapes with them. DD was looking at all the ads today and ask if I wanted anything. One guess, what I told her I'd like. The dishes of course but then I told her no, I had better be the one to pick them out for sure.LOL I don't have room for more dishes but I'm starting to love this!!!
