My Thanksgiving Table

Minus the silverware, I'm just too tired, but wanted to get a pic tonite, as it will be too hectic tomorrow.

Wish I was there. Very pretty, Yach. I especially love the candles in the goblets and how you did the napkins.
I have also saved your centerpiece photo for our Album.

Happy Thanksgiving, Yachter. Everything looks just great, I'm loving all the neat turkey figurines everyone has found. Are your pretty goblets brown or burgandy? And the plaid on your runner is neat too. Love it all, hope you have a wonderful day--don't work too hard, be sure to take a deep breath and just enjoy the smiles on all the happy faces around your table--I know you work really hard to make the day perfect for everyone. Darn it! I saw those placemats 50% off the other day and didn't get them because I wasn't sure I would like them. But, I love them on your table! I hate it when that happens. Very unusual design on the pumpkin plates. First time I've seen ones with a neat swirl. And that big pumpkin tureen is cool. Wonderful table. I still need to get some fall colored glasses. Thank you for all your nice comments. This was a fun table to put together using pieces I have gathered over the last 32 years. Obviously I don't throw anything out! The brown goblets were my registry choice for my wedding 32 years ago. Remember the 70's and everything brown? The gold chargers were Target clearance about 18 years ago. The gold leaf glasses were thrift store finds about the same time. The beaded placemats and leaf plates were TJ finds last year. The s&p's I've picked up over the years at after holiday clearance. The copper colander I used for the centerpiece was a GS find. I had wanted to use a real pumpkin hollowed out for my vase but none to be found in the grocery the night before Thanksgiving. My favorite piece was my "tablecloth". I found that Sunday at Hancocks (fabric store) on the 50% off remnant table. I placed it diagonally over the table and didn't even hem it. I just "fringed" the cut ends. I decided I wanted something paisley from doing the lessons in Judith's class. I would not have used as many layers before doing her assignments. It's fun to combine all the different elements. Previously I would not have thought to combine the gold chargers with the copper beaded placemats but I liked how it turned out. Now......on to the serious holiday decorating!!!

kathleen - I love the whimsy. Your table is wonderful. Great eye with the coloring and the scarecrows are adorable. I am thinking of trying Michael's at a different location today. Great idea to take the mini twig wreaths and hot glue. I can do that:))). If I can't find the orange berries to match the table garland, I may use another fall color and buy extra to incorporate into the table garland. I am going to look at the fall pics as well as they can be taken apart and glued onto the mini wreaths. Still debating on the tablecloth/napkins (and probably will be until the day). I put the leaves in the table last night to see how the table cloth looked and I really like it. The color is the exact color I want/need. I was thinking about doing a basket of the bundled napkins with the silverware pre-wrapped. I have some nice baskets to accomodate the napkin bundles on the buffet. It may work out okay if the table is not "set" and my guests are getting their napkin bundles from the buffet?

Many thanks to you all for your kind words! Kathleen, the glasses are part of the crystal we got when we were married, almost 26 years ago. I love the pattern and am always happy when I can use it. Superchick, you're in NM, too? How wonderful! What part? Sheesharee: I got the runner several years ago. Can't remember where, as I have many of them. I'm a bargain hunter, though, so it had to be at Marshalls or TJMaxx, etc. Karen, I'm honored that you think it's nice enough for our Inspirations album. DD, I was thinking about the placemat situation, too. Just today I saw Slinkey's Thanksgiving table and got inspired. I love her lace placemats and think they'd work perfectly for my own table. Especially if they were in an ecru. If I can't find them like that I can tea-dye white ones. I love the inspiration I get here! Lynn

YOU GOT IT GOING ON!!!

Yacht, I'm jealous! That turkey centerpiece is sooooo pretty. I LOVE how you presented your napkins. And the colors of the bows and flowers pull the color right out of the centerpiece and runner and brings it all together BEAUTIFULLY!!

I am SERIOUSLY wanting your glasses!!! They go so well with your placemats. Target had all different colors back in the summer. I picked up the red and put them in my basket. Before I left I went to put them back because I didn't want to spend the money and DD said, "No Mom. Don't put them back. Buy them if you want them." I'm sure glad I listened to her because that was the last time I've seen that style in any color, anywhere.

Soooo.... If I came to your house I would whine to borrow your's!!!

I know your GKIDS are ohhhing and ahhhing over this one. I sure am.

I have the same style chargers in a bronze color on my table now! But, I'm sure you found a great price for your's while I paid retail at Burlington Coat Factory. If we lived close I would be begging to tag along with you to the yardsales. I'll have to remember how good the placecards look on the corner of them and steal.. I MEAN ..borrow that idea from you!! Did you print your own placecards or buy them like that? They are perfect.

I love the mood-lighting with the candles and how the light from above reflects on everything.

Of all of your tablesscapes, I think this is my all time favorite. It is elegant, floral, rustic, romantic and you still have room for some serving dishes if you chose to bring them to the table. You won't have to be jumping up and down.

You were right to frame your pictures. I think I would IRL take some 8X10s and frame them to use as decorations in the fall in future years. Shucks no, a poster would be better.

Uhhhmm... On second thought... That turkey centerpiece really doesn't look very good at all. And I know you've run out of storage space. So.... just send it to me and I will store it for you. OK? OK. LOL

Oh how pretty! I love the square chargers, don't think I've ever seen any like those. Your colors really knock it up a notch with those luscious ruby red goblets.

Yachter, Wow, you did wonderfully! Your table is warm and inviting, I love that you have your wood table exposed instead of using a tablecloth, all the warm browns of the wood contributes to the overall feeling to the colors of the season along with the plaids and flowers.

The centerpiece is great too, is it a clay type of material that the turkey is made of? Again, I love the subdued color, it fits in so well with your color scheme. I love the glasses too, I must have those in 4 or 5 different colors, but I am not sure I have them in that rich chocolate color, I am jealous :)

Your family so fortunate to have you as a mom, you are truely a wonderful caring person and friend, I am glad to "cyber" know you! I hope you have a great Thanksgiving!
