I have my computer set for a screensaver to come on ( it's one that came with XP) but when i move mouse it's not wanting to wake it up. Have wireless mouse and keyboard. Have changed the mouse batteries. It just started to do this in last couple of days.

Two thoughts: 1) is your machine set up to go into hibernation? 2) sometimes you can bring up the desktop by tapping the power-on button lightly (if you hold it down, though, it will probably cause it to reboot). Let me know if that helps at all.

go in to your screen saver settings area and choose another screensaver, choose one that is very simple not 3D or anything fancy and see if that makes a difference, sometimes they can become corrupt they are just files and sometimes those fancy ones can start to act up.

Right click on a clear spot on the desktop and choose properties then go to the screensaver tab.

JM, thanks for the reply but when I clicked on your first connection I get the WOT warning "UNSAFE SITE". Just thought I would let you know. I tried the second connection you posted a link for only because I know you are a trusted member on this forum. It downloaded alright But when I tried to install it I got a ERROR message that says "DREAM AQUARIUM NOT PROPERLY INSTALLED" So I'm not sure what went wrong, just thought I would let you know so you could have someone else see if they had the same results. It sure sounds like something I would like to have, just what I had in mind. DA, yes you're right, it's one of the reasons I didn't poke around too much on the Google site, although there are many that have the green WOT indicator, sometimes when you click on one it leads you off into places that don't look too secure.

Bought my first PC in 1996, I've never used a screen saver and have not had any problems. I turn it off at night when I shut off my PC. I asked the guys at Circuit city if they turn their monitors off at night and they said no and had two monitors with "something" on the screen, but it only shows when the monitors were off. He said they were old and that it was not necessary on the newer monitors. Everyonce in awhile I turn it on to show my photos, but haven't found a way to choose which photos to use. It uses all photos on my PC even documents with photos. LOL

It wasn't set to hibernate and i went to three different screen savers to finally get it to work.
