Thanks zep516. Looks like I will have to call Dell. Since I'm leaving on a road trip, I will have to wait till I get back. I had planned to take the laptop with me and use battery power, but looks like I'll have to use ac power instead. It seems that this has been an issue for Dell for several years. You would think that they would have corrected the problem by now.

Had the same problem with my desktop. I gave up on it and uninstalled the software. They are troublesome and I found it annoying even when it did work. I just log in with a password..its faster. Jane

Sorry, I should have added that any other games we have downloaded onto the laptop computer from computer game sites have worked fine on the default screen setting.
