Jane, When you have the screen shot you want, Hit the Print Scrn key then open word pad, right click and paste.Then save to desk top right click & send.
Also here a good littls program to do when you want. You can capture any part you want.

I paste the screenshot into Paint or any photo software program and then save as a .jpg photo, then you can attach it to your email and send.
If you do paste to WordPad, you'll have to save it as a Rich Text Format (RTF) document, probably not the best to be sending people compared to a jpg photo.
BTW, the Print Screen key is next to the F12 key.
A simple program to use for screenshots is PrintKey 2000

Thank you, thank you, - Randy, I did it years ago using Paint and Printkey. I will fool with it again tonight. I just can't remember all these different things unless I use them all the time. This is something I haven't needed to use.

Roselvr, I printed up that info., and Jim will take a look at that too. One of them should do the trick.

That is exactly why Randy has the best solution by far. You need no extra program to mess with because the Print Screen button has always been there and you have a photo editing program. Just crop the part you want, save and send. Simple.

There is WinSnap at Major Geeks, it is free and its a snap!

Check out the screenshot, it has a "Send by Email" button. It is a keeper and it takes pics of all kinds popups and windows in just about all formats.

I have the free version, and I got it from Major Geeks, mine says version 1.1. When I did a search at Major's (still looking for a date since 2002) for 1.1 it kept taking me to the 2.1 page and apparentlyit will let me download the picture taker without any information given.

If they do have a charge for it, I'm sorry. My version is free and looks just like the 2.1 version...try it. I've pinned Winsnap to my start menu and we are cool!

I gotta go find a date!

I tried many WinSnap and it worked with email. But I tried to get a snapshot to stick here and couldn't figure out how to do it. How would I put a screen shot here?

To put a screen shot here, you'd need to upload the photo to something like photobucket, then copy the HTML tag and paste it here in your message.

1. Open PAINT - Start->All Programs->Accessories->Paint
2. Open window of what you need screen shot.
3 Press PrtScn button
4. Go to PAINT and select EDIT and PASTE or Ctrl-V
5. Select Save As and name your shot - remember where you saved it - saving it to your desktop is easy to find.
6. Go to the saved file
7. "Right Click" on it and select "SEND TO"-> "MAIL RECIPIENT, then choose "MAKE MY PICTURES SMALLER"

This will open up your email with the picture attached and file size reduced for easy sending and viewing. You can type whatever info you need in the email.

You don't need any other software - this all came with your computer.

Me and Winsnap are doing this with you. This is my "first time".

Sign up at Photobucket.com. You will then get an album after you wade through the cellphone promotion to get a gaming console (XBOX 360 etc).

There will be a 'browse' key where you can peruse your computer for images you want to upload. Choose and upload.
You will be taken to your image's web page where you can so all kinds of things.

We want a our selected image in a GW post. We have got to add HTML code (we read here).

This worked at the html image practise preview...one more time!

So, I can't spell... But anyway you can do this...I made the pic too large, I used the Photobucket forum recommended size...its a little too big.
You can do this! I did it with the img src="URL" surrounded by (html code). Finally. It took some time to warm up or something...I don't why it didn't work in the beginning...but it works now!
