Perfect Pair of Napkin Rings & 'Just Ducky!'

Oh boy, DH made a trip today to Menards so I tagged along to get dropped off at TJMaxx .... then we stopped to buy lunch to take home & it would take 25 min. til done...so, guess what, GWill shop a couple doors down! Here's my finds in 25 min...

Brass Duck Bookends ...very heavy duty & a bargain for $5...good for my books & good for t'scaping!

And, then I spotted these cute little "quack-ers!"

I thought they were quite unique cause the ducks are one piece S&P shakers...on the back side in faint writing are two words: Poland & Anna so I pd $1.75 for them. They'll probably end up on Dollybaby's tray one of these days!

And the last "perfect" find (for me) was a pair of napkin rings made with shells & coral ... the salmon color struck my fancy because of the recent collection I've started of Woodfield Stubenville "Toast & Tea" plate & cups...I stood one up by candle on Fall display on porch:

Can you believe each of those shells & pcs have small hole in them & are "strung" with wire on a metal ring...I thought they were perfect...got the pair for $1.

Oh, I forgot ... a few wks ago I got this pine branch pitcher at the same GW for $3.50...I'll use it for winter & "pines" just call to me! (jeannespines) Markings on the bottom is just a label that says "distributed by Target"..microwave & dishwasher safe.

Nice finds, Jeanne. The bookends are wonderful and look brand new. Thanks for letting us in on the ducks who are stuck, together that is. They would be perfect for Dollbaby's tray.

The shell napkin rings are perfect with your dishes. Hope you can find some more of them during your shopping sprees. Love your new Pine Branch Pitcher. That will go with alot of your decorations. Wouldn't Lynn love that to go on her table with the pinecone dishes?

You are having so much fun out shopping and finding some really great things. I'm so happy for you!

Way to go Gal, tag along and get in some good shopping too. Great buys, and the ducks and napkin rings are unusual and really neat. Bookends always come in handy, and your's sure look to be in great condition. Good find on the pitcher too. Yes, you have sure had some good "treasure shopping" days lately. Good for you! ;o)

Well, I typed out a whole message, pushed submit, then my internet went off and I lost it all. GRRR.... ANYway, lol... Diane, I received your package today. She sent me a really big and gorgeous garden statue!! I absolutely love it, thank you so much. It is beautiful, Diane. Here is a photo of it out in my yard: Diane, you have been such a great pal these past few months, despite how crazy busy you have been. And I cannot thank you enough for that. I am retired also, at the early age of 57 after 28 years working on a Navy base. It was hard to do because you give up that salary but it was the most exciting thing I think I have ever done. After 7 months it is still hard to believe that I do not have to get up and go to work every morning. I remember being a stay at home mom for many years and it was hard. You have to be housekeeper, cook, chauffer (sp?), teacher, laundress, etc., etc., etc. But remember how you got paid??? With those big eyes filled with love and those sloppy kisses? And that was just from the hubby - LOL. I worked at a daycare so I could have some spending money and have my kids with me and then after they started school I went to work full time. I have never liked being away from my children. I think there comes a time when you have to put everything on a scale - mine was - work at a job I was getting bored with and receive a very nice salary or on the other side, spend time with my husband, who is ten years my senior, and enjoy life while we can and see my grandkids more often. You guessed it, work did not stand a chance. OK, I am talkative this morning, better start getting some work around the house done.

Lynne, I'm so happy that my table is inspiring you. Sounds like you have a wonderful start for it. With all your talent I'm sure your tables would be beautiful. Karen, I'm so tickled you got to get out of the house and go shopping. Will be looking forward to your photos. It snowed here yesterday and today it rained!haha I just bought my dishes this year and love them too. Janet, please show us pictures of your trees. They sound cute and would be great with seed beads on them. I made some trees along time ago and just dotted gold for the garland, cut out of hearts for ornaments and cut out stars on the branch tips and top, and they were pretty cute. Dream, can hardly wait to see your Thanksgiving table with these dishes. Jane, I think DD bought me the pheasant and deer plate last year when everyone was into pheasants. I whined and you know the rest of that story. I used the pheasant on my table because Karen had ask me to display it and show a picture awhile back. A Happy Wife...Is A Happy Life. Your table is beautiful! I'm saving this idea for next year. We had a small Xmas this year, but next year is our turn for the BIG Xmas; I'm going to get those photo frames. I have problems seating people, more with family than friends. I have a few oafish family members who think it's OK to sit wherever when there are so many considerations. We have 2 lefties to accommodate, 2 quite heavy folks who need an extra sturdy chair, and then I like my husband and me to be at the ends so we can supervise the kitchen and serving in an efficient manner. Great idea! I may even get some non-holiday frames for dinner parties this year...what a cute keepsake! What is your silver...it must be Gorham, as the salad forks are shaped like mine. Beautiful!

I'm imagining the person who made those nap rings...It's amazing the detail that goes into some things and you know that person (probably from some island) got paid next to nothing for it...then the Seller makes a huge profit on it. In your case, you were lucky getting them 'second time around' and got a great deal. They're very pretty.

We don't have Menards or CTS : (, but it is very convenient that you have a GW so close to your lunch stop.

You did great for 25 min. Imagine what you could have found if you had more time, LOL.

All of the ducks are great!!!, but I love the pitcher...
