instant hot water dispensers reliable but easy on the budget?
Comments (1)"Too much money" is subject to interpretation. You can buy one of the new Insinkerator instant hots with the chrome dispenser and the new all stainless tank at HD for around $220. They sell a prettier one with the brushed nickel finish for around $280. That's about as cheap for quality as you can find. If you require a specialty finish, you'll be in special order territory with the price that comes with it....See MoreFilter for instant hot water dispenser
Comments (14)They ALL filter the water first before it goes into the hot tank, if that is the set up you wish to have. It is a good setup. What one does is to branch off the filtered water line (output line) so that one branch becomes the input line to the hot tank. I hope this makes sense and is not too hard to understand and also not perceived as a putdown in anyway. It's obvious, once someone points it out to you. It's simple. But, if you need any other explanation, go ahead and ask. Of course I would agree if you asked why this is never mentioned anywhere. -- The kind of filter known as "RO" may be the kind that is deemed to produce water that gets aggressive with tanks, but it's not "RO water in this discussion of an Insta-Hot and a filter. I haven't seen "RO filters packaged together with Instant Hot water. "RO is Reverse Osmosis. -- So, the conclusion is that ANY Instant Hot and any filter that uses replaceable filters go well together. -- to find out a whole lot more, the keywords for a web search are "Anaheim Manufacturing" or anaheim manufacturing quick and hot This is the company that makes the tank which twenty other companies rebrand as their own. They also make faucets. They sell both, together. They also have filters. Hint hint. -- Email the companies you whose products you like and ask the simple question if you can branch off the filtered water to send one branch into the Hot tank, and if so, whether or not this is better or worse for the tank. -- Usually, since filtering removes organic gunk, it is considered really good to remove this gunk before letting the water sit in the tank. So, I would filter water first before putting it into the IHW tank. Hth....See Moreinstant hot water dispenser recommendation
Comments (6)Mine is a Little Gourmet by Mountain Plumbing. I love it, but somewhere in the 3rd year, we had to cut off the end of the rubbery tube that delivers the very hot water to the tap. The combination of very hot water (we keep it turned all the way or nearly all the way up), tube stretched over the connection and then the little wiggle caused by water pressure on and off eventually caused a leak right at the connection (sudden drop in water pressure at the tap). We had enough line that we cut it off and reconnected (2 minute fix), but I plan to go look for a stainless or other line that will hold up better for the long haul. Kind of like the installers suggest changing to a stainless supply line on your washer and dryer. If I had known that going into the installation, I'd have had no issues with it at all. Knowing it now, I'd still get the same unit -- just look for a better hot water line to install it with or replace after a year or two....See MoreDo you love your instant hot water dispenser?
Comments (41)---From an earlier post: "Another caveat: I live at (high) altitude, so water takes longer to boil here. Our insta-hot isn't as hot as it would be lower down. (It's still scalding hot, but I did notice a difference.) We canNOT use it for oatmeal (we put it in a pyrex measuring cup in the micro and that gets it hot enough for oatmeal), but that's here. Back in San Francisco it was hot enough straight out of the tap for (instant) oatmeal." --- Just a minor nitpick ... actually, the water boils sooner at altitude, but it boils at a lower temperature, so it takes things longer to cook. (It has to do with the lower air pressure at altitude, and water boils when the water vapor pressure exceeds the atmospheric pressure.) I'm trying to decide on an instant-hot, and I too am at altitude, so thanks for your experience. I guess the temp in the water tank is lower because it has to keep beneath boiling ... just like the coffee makers (coffee is never quite hot enough in the mountains, and just barely at home)....See Moretoomuchstuph
