Instant hot water dispenser
Comments (13)We just installed our second Insinkerator instant hot water heater. We've had one in our main kitchen sink for years (maybe 10? at least 5) with no problems. Just put in a bar sink in our pantry and put a second one in there for tea (and instant simple syrup for cocktails) - which seemed like a ridiculous indulgence but with all the $ we spent on the cabinets not so much. This area is quite small and narrow and there was an issue with space. There's also a garbage disposal - had to work to make sure everything would fit but it did. The first one, we bought maybe the second cheapest model from HD, and the one we just bought was similar. The big price differentiators seem to be 1) adding filtered cold water and 2) fancy spouts. We opted for the simple spout with a red dot on it, which helps people know what it is (we have a lot of guests). Obviously we've been more than happy with ours....See Moreinstant hot water dispensers
Comments (11)I thought the new Insinkerator tanks were stainless steel - I know there is now a 3-5 year in home warranty on the tank and dispenser (I think it gets extended from 3 to 5 on the tank if you use a certified ISE installer). Hopefully the new tanks will be an improvement over some of the reviews I have read on the old. I am putting in an instant hot, but with a lot of trepidation after reading some of the reviews over on Amazon. I was hoping that the bad reviews (and I've seen some bad reviews on all of them, not just Insinkerator) were the just the vocal exception because there seem to be a lot of happy instant hot owners here on this forum. The only Q I have is how long most of these people have owned theirs - maybe not long enough to give problems? I do have a friend who just replaced her tank after only a couple of years - it seems crazy that something that is not inexpensive would break so quickly. One thing I am definitely going to do is put something under the tank in case of leakage - I don't want my brand new cabinets to be damaged....See MoreDo you love your instant hot water dispenser?
Comments (41)---From an earlier post: "Another caveat: I live at (high) altitude, so water takes longer to boil here. Our insta-hot isn't as hot as it would be lower down. (It's still scalding hot, but I did notice a difference.) We canNOT use it for oatmeal (we put it in a pyrex measuring cup in the micro and that gets it hot enough for oatmeal), but that's here. Back in San Francisco it was hot enough straight out of the tap for (instant) oatmeal." --- Just a minor nitpick ... actually, the water boils sooner at altitude, but it boils at a lower temperature, so it takes things longer to cook. (It has to do with the lower air pressure at altitude, and water boils when the water vapor pressure exceeds the atmospheric pressure.) I'm trying to decide on an instant-hot, and I too am at altitude, so thanks for your experience. I guess the temp in the water tank is lower because it has to keep beneath boiling ... just like the coffee makers (coffee is never quite hot enough in the mountains, and just barely at home)....See Moreinstant hot and cold water dispensers?
