$175.00 - What kind of toilet would you buy?

We are building a new home and were given an allowance of $175 for each toilet (3 - powder room, regular bath, master bath). We don't mind going over budget a LITTLE for the master, but we'd like to stay in/under, if possible.

What do you recommend? I really like the Kohler Memoirs and Toto Promenade for the powder room (they're pretty for a toilet, haha), but I can't seem to find a concrete price.

Suggestions appreciated! Thanks :)

I recommend the American Standard cadet 3 model toilet. I replaced a lousy flushing toilet in my guest bathroom with a Cadet 3 last month and so far I'm very pleased with it. I got the elongated comfort height model at Home Depot for $168.00 I believe the regular height model is about $30.00 less

We're doing the same thing, replacing 4 toilets....one we did the Kohler Cimarron (sp?)...another we did another Kohler but it had a shallower base (one of our toilets has the spicket for the plumbing coming out of the ground not the wall...we're debating the Toto Drake for our guest bath which will also be our most used bath and another Toto for our new upstairs bath...we don't want any risk of leaking in the upstairs...

I would actually spend more on the most heavily used toilet..for us it's the guest bath that most guests/family will use because our MBR is not as close to the main living areas. Whichever toilet gets flushed the most will want best flushing ability. We have only installed the Kohler and we paid about $220 for it including seat..it is elongated and high seat...and it works great, no problems yet.

Will get the Toto's in a few weeks and let you know how those go..but it's running $300 for the Drake.

The ADM is 15.5" wide, which is the same as the Toto S300. I suppose I could be happier with the E200, which is 14.5", but I'd have to spend hundreds of dollars more and that starts to sound like I'm a little crazy! The ADM gets good reviews, and looks pretty much like the rest of the bunch in terms of shape, thickness, etc. I probably would get used to it, so it's good to hear you did, mongo. qt3 - Were you considering buying the Neorest? Those are gorgeous, and I imagine it would be pretty expensive to replace a seat. I'm talking about a mere washlet seat - and one that cost me only $150. Still, if I can't deal with it, I should just return it before I start using it. Sigh.

Etsy has some nice gift ideas such as monogrammed stethoscope ID tags, RN charms, fun personalized nurse travel mug (you could tuck a refillable Starbucks card in there for long shifts), university nurse pins (have the school's name, graduation date, and RN), personalized stethoscope covers, fancy retractable badge holders, heartbeat necklace, etc. If you decide to do the group photo bring to the party an oversized mat that the guests can sign. What about a nursing care package containing things such as some good hand cream, some foot soak, a Starbucks gift card, high protein snacks that could fit in a pocket, a personalized water bottle or travel mug, nice travel size hand sanitizer, chapstick, bottle of wine for after a hard shift, a stress ball, fun lanyard or badge holder (depending on what her employer prefers), massage gift certificate, etc. I'm not a nurse so I looked on Reddit for suggestions from threads about this topic.

I rent through AirBnB. I set the price, they take (I think) 3%. As soon as the person books and I accept it, I can communicate with them, through the site. When they arrive, or on their trip to my home, I offer my cell #. The last couple that was here used my kitchen for most of their very healthy meals. They also worked out every day. I have only been doing this since June but have really enjoyed meeting the people who have stayed here, it has been quiet since the hurricane season is in full swing but hopefully some bookings will happen in the next few weeks.

For something fun, (in the absence of covid risk) I would definitely spend a lot of time traveling, even living for months at a time in one of several countries. Then, I would maybe buy a different house, outside the urban/suburban ring (but still close enough for convenience) with a larger piece of land where I can indulge in growing many different apple varieties and a few other fruits - without the pressure from overpopulated deer and raccoons. Not for fun, but for philanthropy, I have often thought about using an extremely large jackpot to rehab older housing stock, especially in deteriorated neighborhoods that used to be full of beautiful houses, and make them available at affordable rents (affordable for lower wage workers, not what is typically labeled "affordable" around here.)

I don't mind spending more on the master bath, since that will be used the most in our house...

Do you think the prices are best online, in a plumbing store, or in HomeDepot/Lowe's?

Toto Promenade runs around $220-$250.
Kohler Memoirs runs well over $300 if not $400.
Both have the same look and are "pretty" for toilets! Hee hee!

I love my three Toto Drakes -- they ran me $300 each. They have the G-Max flush system which was really imporatnt to me. We had really awful toilets in my house and we were thriled when we finally had the Totos installed.

Totos are worth the extra price -- I know it seems crazy to spend so much on a tolet, but if you can tweak your budget a little bit, I would try.

Have Memoirs in both main and half bath and are very happy so far, but they do cost nearly $300.

Our GC recommends Kohler Wellworth or Cimarron for budget models. I know others here feel differntly.
