Please HELP, I need to choose fridge fast

Hi,

I am travelling and my husband is manning the home front with 2 little kids. He just told me that our fridge is on its way out, like very very soon. This evening the freezer is no longer cold (good thing we have an extra freezer). We had planned for a kitchen renovation with complete appliance replace sometime this fall. we have been researched for appliances but haven't come to decisions. It looks like we will need a fridge real fast. In terms of budget, we don't know how much we are willing to spend on a fridge, but we have about 10K for the following

- fridge

- induction top (bosch or elux) & electric oven, or induction/electric oven

- microwave / toaster combo

- dishwasher (miele/bosch/ka/whirlpool)

- vent hood

- $500-$700 for sink & faucet

Here is our criteria for fridge/freezer:

- french door or bottom mount

- no water or ice dispenser on door. ice maker in freezer is ok, we just won't hook it up.

- large produce bins, as large as possible, preferrably at least 8 inches high.

- reliable

Do you have any suggestions for me? Otherwise, I may have to call around for any floor model

This is so stressful, I hate to see the kids go without milk, yet, I felt like we have to make a decision with a gun on our heads :(

If I were you'd I'd look through craigslist for a used one that will last you until the remodel. Don't worry about French door or bin sizes, just get one that works and doesn't look beat up. That way you're spending as little as possible and not buying something that might not fit the plans later. Since you'll only have it a few months you'll probably be able to sell it for what you paid so it's really a zero cost option in the end.

thanks. My husband & I were discussing the same thing. Although, we were thinking about bar fridge to last us few weeks. But we may look at other used fridge too, enough to last us few months. I called home earlier and hearing the compressor wheezing just added to the stress.

What is your budget? You can spend $1000 or a stainless refrigerator, or $8,000. We've had a couple of Nokia cell phones for several years through TracFone. We decided to go with the Motorola W376g phones because it is hearing air compatible, plus my wife wanted a new phone. Using the TracFone web site, transferring the minutes and telephone number from the first one went fairly smooth and it took just a few minutes before the new phone was working. Trying to do it with the second phone has been a problem and after 3 days is still not working. They first told me it would take 24 to 48 hours for the transfer to take place. and then they said it would take up to 10 days. I've tried calling them but with my hearing problem it's almost impossible to understand their overseas Service Representatives. So I've been dealing with them by e-mail. It cost $49.99 is supposed to have "double minutes for the life of the phone upon activation."

Is the smaller bowl so much smaller that the dough is nowhere near doubled? If it is that much smaller, it's okay just transfer it gently to a bigger bowl. But once dough has risen as much as it should, it needs to be deflated. (If you'd kept it in a big bowl, you would need to punch it down to keep it happy for two or three days.) Get the air out, and fold it a bit so that the yeast is redistributed. Now that it's cold it will rise much more slowly. Punch it down again if it gets near doubling, but it probably won't.

This is Agreeable Gray, Extra White and Gauntlet Gray. I actually think it would be a mistake to go too much gray on the body. You will already have a gray roof. Canvas Tan is a little grayer than Patience. I would not use those garage doors shown above. They are a modern design and your house is closer to traditional. I also think the wood grain and side windows when combined with stone would look too busy. I hope one of the professionals will speak to the door as I am just a person like you. What is the name of your HOA? Stay away from Unique Gray. It is lilac color.

I agree with Dave. Get something that works, looks decent and is cheap. Then you can do the rest of your appliance research later when you're home and can think better. And when the kids are all lactosed up. ;)
