control panel folder options

I can't open the folder options in control panel. I have never used it, as I don't know how. A "friend" used my computer recently, and I wonder what she did. Can anyone give me a work around to open the file? I really need to discover what she did. TIA

OK try getting there this way
Right click Start
click Explore
click Tools at the top
click Folder Options.

That is the same place, are you able to get there via this route?

What do you mean when you can't open it: you click on it and it does nothing, or that you don't know how to get there? And what exactly do you want to accomplish when you get into "Folder Options"?

You can take your protests to the manufacturer, Mars. They also make a bunch of other products, including M&Ms, Skittles and Snickers (complete list here: http://www.mars.com/global/Mars+Directory/United+States/Company+Search+Results.htm), so be sure you're not rewarding them by buying other products they manufacture. I don't ordinarily resort to this, but I finally sent them an email pointing out how their commercials are having the exact opposite of the desired effect, and asking them to cease and desist. If that's a paperclip you're clicking on that is an Attachment... Save the Attachment, Scan it with your virus checker... After your Save the file right click on it and go to Open with, it will have a list of the programs you have on your computer that will open the file... When it says: "This file does not have a program associated with it to perform this action. Create an association in the Folder options control panel." here's what you do... First check out the file extension, .jpg, gif or whatever... Then go to Control Panel, Folder Options, File types... Scroll down the list until you find the right file Extension, left click on it once then left click on Change and pick a program to open that file, making sure you have a check mark in Always use the Selected program to open this kind of file then click OK... You'll only have to do that once with each different file Extension you run across... ( It's best to select a program that's listed under Recommended and usually the first one on the list is the one you have set to open other such files. ) Now then, if you go through all that and that particular file still does not Open it probably means that there is something wrong with that file or you have no programs that can open it and no matter what you do you will not be able to open that file... trying to decipher this folder options in control panel> do you mean how does one open the individual folders that appear in the control panel area? If so you double click on them.
If you mean actual folder options then click on tools up at the top of control panel and then folder options to select what you want there. Or it could be the view of control panel was changed to category view over on the left you can change that.
Or if you look up at the top there is a small icon for views with a drop down > beside it where you can change the appearance of the actual items in control panel.
also up at the top is the folders button you might try.

If none of this helps please let us know exactly what you are trying to accomplish what has changed etc for us to be of more assistance.
