Marble Basketweave floor tile - honed vs polished?
Comments (9)We went with honed. I think technically they had it labeled as tumbled marble. I thought it looked a little less formal, if that makes sense to anyone other than me, than the polished. I don't find the basketweave portion to be slippery. We used a larger honed tile for the smaller room with the shower and toilet. I did slide a little once on that, but now I'm just careful to step on the mat and make sure the bottom of my feet are dry before stepping onto the floor. We sealed it and have not had any problems. I vacuum it with a hard floor attachment and have spot cleaned a few places. We've been using the bathroom for about six months and it's been very low maintenance....See MoreMisty Carrera vs. Bianco River - Quartz Carrera Looks
Comments (6)Thanks alku05! I also design professionally and sometimes also obsess about choices I make for my clients. All my postings aren't for me alone, but it HAS taken me a long time to really decide what I want. It's much easier to design for other people, but a designer has so many choices and if their design likes span many styles it's often hard to make up ones mind ;-). Would be a lot easier if I only liked one style, but I think I have it all in place now finally. Was going to do a black counter until I saw this Bianco River. The other problem is I'm trying to use one slab for both the kitchen and bath counters....See MoreMisty Carrera Ceasarstone with real white Carrera floors?
Comments (1)Have you brought home a sample of granite that picks up the darker gray that's in the veins of the carrera? I'd have to see the two products together but if the MC looks like you tried to match the white carrera and missed then I'd suggest going with a gray granite that gives more contrast. I'd pick out the countertop first before I decided on a backsplash....See MoreHoned vs. Polished cararra, my experience so far...
Comments (3)I am at the countertop decision phase and it is killing me. I want soapstone perimeter and carrera island. Both have MAJOR issues but I love "the look." I feel like if I chose (ex. honed jet mist granite) it would be an imitation of soapstone look even though I know granite is natural stone etc... I am tempted to hone and antique the finish of my (not yet mine) 5 cm. carrera and then pour tomatoe juice over it and call it a day. An architect friend did this and it greyed the marble, but it looks AMAZING over her tobacco green cabinets! I am also debating between off white or gray cabinets. Anyone out there have gray cabinets? Also person who used carrera what did you use on your island. THANKS!...See Morekarena_2009
