From your wireless laptop Start Button choose HelP. Choose the line that says Printers and Faxes... then printing on a network. And it should talk you through it. Think one option is Print from a printer attached to another network computer ..or something similar. Basically when your printer is powered on, and the computer it is attached to is powered on,,, if your laptop has the same group name... simply going to Add new printer should pop a box and find the printer automatically and talk you thru a few simple things. FYi My HP printer shows as PRINTERHP. Yours is different. The path to my printer from my laptop would be \\Mikesdesk\PRINTERHP

Not all wireless 2.4 phones disrupt it. Tried a $9 GE from Walgreen's here and it very rarely disrupted... and never on ring or dial. Maybe once every three days. Yet my old expensive Sony would daily a time or two for no reason cause loss of wifi for a minute. Have been using DECT 1.9 phones,, 5 of them here .. they never disturb it. If connecting to a neighbors wifi,, you might talk to the neighbor and explain the benefits of securing thier wifi so you 'cant connect to it unless you know the passkey. Then at least you would get a popup asking you to enter the secret and know you're not stealing their connection. Or just get a bigger antenna and cancel your internet connection and use your neighbors.. heh Have read some people have continue to have problems with 5.8 phones too. I forget exactly ... even though they say 5.8, many will communicate or ring or dial or something on 2.4.

jean001- I understand what you're relaying about your conversation. However, if it's backwards compatible to XP, it means that it works with Vista. Now if he is telling you that he can either have it set to handle Vista connections, or XP and Win7 connections, but not all of them at the same time, maybe that's so based on some odd configuration he has set up. I have my own $60 wireless router running four computers (and a Roku box and a printer): one computer is XP, two are Vista, and one is Win 7. They all worked immediately after I put in the keys for my security settings, and I did nothing to configure any of them specifically. I've never had a problem connecting. And I have friends who visit and tap into my system using both PCs and Macs and they have no problems either. If you don't want to question your guru any further, that's your call, but I'm still not buying his story.

pk, yes, frustrated is an understatement. Don't like spending so much time on such things that are probably easy. Did a lot of research with no resolve. Printer is hooked up to a desktop; DT hooked up to router. I don't "think" the printer is connected directly to router. Not sure what ethernet is. Laptop works wirelessly to the printer. Laptop is 8 mos old. Was working perfectly fine with printer until this new router was installed the other day. I have not tried plugging the printer directly to laptop. I'll try that in the morning. Brain is fried right now so I'll continue on this quest in the morning since I need the printer for work. Thanks for the help. Wonder if uninstalling the computer software from laptop, then reinstalling it again, will work.
