Mobile Broadband Follow Up Report

Hello again....some of you may remember my post of Jan 9th when I was trying to find out about mobile broadband as an alternative ISP to use on my new laptop. On January 20th I bought the Virgin Broadband To Go USB modem at Walmart along with a $20 top up card. They said I had 15 days to return it if it didn't work.

I am very pleased to let you guys know that it did work and I am able to make "video calls" via google chat. I can also surf the web and pretty much do what I do on my desktop with the Wild Blue satellite.

The $20 top up card gave me a month of service with 1 GB of data use. I have made a couple of video chats, uploaded several hundred photos, "surfed for hours", and did my usual email and still have about 800MB left. It does not offer roll over so when the month is up, I lose any "data time" I haven't used. I just go and buy another top up card that will give me another month of service. Still a pretty good deal to me.

The mobile broadband to go runs off a cell phone signal and I have not had any problems with dropped connections or no connections...unlike my ATT cell phone service.

Thank all of you again who responded to my first post. I really appreciated your help and wanted to let you know how it worked out for me.

Murphy
