??? on sealing grout for porcelain tile/marble trim

I have enjoyed lurking about on this forum and have learned many useful things which have helped keep things running smoothly in my current bathroom remodel. My contractor is pleased, believe it or not, at how knowledgeable I am (ha!)which has made things easy for him when we have had to change/alter plans.

A big thanks to all the posters/experts on this forum for your knowledge and experience.

Now - a question. My porcelain tile (Daltile Salerno 12x12) with a tumbled marble trim has been installed. I would like to seal the grout and want to be prepared ahead of time with the how/why of this process in order to discuss it with the installer from a knowledgeable perspective.

1) Is there anything specific I need to know about the type/kind of sealant to use? The same brand grout is used throughout except for sanded v. unsanded depending on the application.

2) Will the sealant when applied alter the color of the tumbled marble? I assume it would not on the tile since it is not porous right?

3) What is the best application method for him to use?

4) Any "shortcuts" I should be concerned about?

Again, thanks to all who contribute.
