I don't know about the Sansa, but I can tell you how to drag something: move the mouse cursor so it's directly over the title that you want to move and press down the LEFT mouse button and keep holding it down. While you're still holding the button down, slide the mouse so that the title moves over to the area of the screen that you want it to be in; then release the mouse button. If it's a movable item, it will have been relocated to where you want it.

If that doesn't work, do you know how to cut-and-paste something?

kudzu- As far as dragging it over- if I have the screen split in half, with two sites on the screen- 1-media player, 2-my music file. Do you want me to drag the title of the song over to the right hand column of Media Player? Is that what you are telling me?

Now- I have been online for about 6-7 hours. I found the song I downloaded- it was in 'my music' 9Beatles, When I'm 64). I wasn't sure what to do with it, so I put it in a folder that I labled 'playlist'. Now I have been looking for that folder for about 2 hours- can't find it- THAAT is part of the frustration! I don't know how to find things- it must be here somewhere, but I can't come up with it!
That means I have to find a site that I can download again- (has to be free)- and I haven't been able to do that again....I sure wish there was a real person that I could meet with out here to show me......no wonder I want to move back to civilization!

It's a little hard for me to answer your question because, when you say the song is in "my music file" is this the actual file that you have downloaded and it's in a folder or what? Since I also don't know what version of Windows and Media Player you're using, or what the location of the music file is, I can't give you step-by-step directions. I don't know if it will work, but it won't hurt anything to try. I was simply trying to give you a basic computer lesson. You can try to drag the file, or cut-and paste-it. Hopefully one of these will work.

Another basic computer skill: When you download something, the destination location on your computer should be automatically listed at the top of the download window: write it down if you have to before clicking to download the file. If you later can't remember where a file or folder is, you just need to go to the Start button, click on Search, and type in as much as you can remember of the file name or folder name. The start the search. It should only take the computer a minute or so to find it.

I also have some general advice; please take this in the right way. You need to get some basic computer skills through a book, a course, or a friend. You are wasting hours of your valuable time on stuff that should take a couple of seconds to accomplish. Working with computers involves certain skills that are sometimes only obvious after you've done them a few times. I had my own share of frustrations when I got started, but I got tired of muddling through and got a "Computers for Dummies" book years ago and worked my way through it. Do yourself a favor and try something like that.

Have you tried just right clicking on the music file and left clicking on 'Add to Windows Media Player List'? That's what I usually do.

Where is the folder that you labeled Playlist? You can just search for it by clicking on Start and Search, then either select 'All Files and Folders' to find the folder (you will need to type in Playlist in the 'All or part of file name). You could also just click on Pictures, Music or Video and then music and type in 'When I'm 64' in the file name field. Was this music in MP3 format or something else? Dragging and dropping, like Kudzu described is easy, but it does take practice. Practice builds confidence.

Kudzu is right in that spending so much time on a project can lead to lots of frustration. Sometimes it's difficult for an end user to grasp the concept of the filing structure. If you can imagine that "My Documents' is a big folder with smaller folders inside (My Music, My Pictures or Playlists) and the actual files are inside those smaller folders.

are you on dial up? if so it will take forever to download songs from online, pretty much not worth it. I tried a couple back in the days of dial up and decided not worth the effort or time. Now with my Fios connection I can download a song faster than I can tell it where to store it on my computer.

Having some good beginner tutorials on windows available to look at and read will be a very big help in learning how to do some of the everyday tasks you need to know. Here are a few sites to save that you can gain knowledge from.

And don't forget Google is your friend you have the world at your fingers just google what every you need to know and usually quickly you will find what you need.

When you find the music site again, copy it down into a text file by opening Notepad and paste it into the Notepad Window. Call it My free Music Sites. Then save it into your My Documents Folder. It will be a text file. I do this to things I want to save in case I am unable to find the site again

I think I can help with your problem of getting it on a playlist. Open Windows Media Player and if you have a playlist you want to add the song to right click on that playsist in the left window and select 'edit in list pane'. If not left click on 'untitled playlist' in the right window and select 'rename playlist' and give it a name of your choice. Now drag the song from your music folder to the right window of media player under the name you have just created. Now click on 'save playlist' at the bottom of the right window and it will be saved.
The way I get songs onto my Sansa mp3 player is by getting the playlists the way I want them and then plugging the Sansa into a USB port. Then select 'Sync' at the top of the left hand window of media player. This erases all songs from the Sansa and replaces them with your playlists from Windows Media Player so you would not want to use 'Sync' if you only want to add one song.

Well, I just called the tctwest to see if they have any classes-I have been waiting for about 2+ years- they keep on saying they will have some when there is 'enough need'. I guess I am the only 'needy one' so far!
I still can't find the 2 songs I put in a folder- nothing brings them up, so Bob, I can't drag them! I can't find them!

also check with some of the elderly centers they often have someone that comes around to help people for a small fee or sometimes as volunteers.

I tried all the user group lists you sent- Wyoming isn't even on their list!! Doesn't surprise me. I also looked at Craigslist, and the only thing is in Cheyenne- 7 hours away. I will try to remember to call the senior center tomorrow- I don't qualify as a senior but they might know of someone...thanks for the suggestion.
kudzu- don't worry- I don't take your suggestion with any malice! I already had 'Computers for Dummies', and gave it away.....that was about 7 years ago-for Windows 98- maybe there is a better one that is easier to understand for Windows2000. Part of the problrm is remembering what I just read- the medications make me unable to remember a phone number from looking at it in the phone book to dialing it- I will have to go back several times to the phonebook....:( If I can SEE what someone does, it is usually not a problem- that is why I need to find someone. A kid.......10 years old should do.....he/she would know way more than I need to know! But there aren't any out here in BFE. Will keep trying.

I think you will have trouble finding tutors simply because you are still using Windows 2000. Most of us are long past using it although I still have the program on CD.

Practically everything written now is for XP or Vista. Even Googling 'W2K tutorials' only brings up 177,000 hits and many of those are business oriented because W2K was sold for the business environment.

If your computer is powerful enough it might pay to buy XP Home, it can be had for under $100 occasionally. Not trying to spend your money, merely offering a suggestion if funds are available for such things.

You could do a search (start > search > all files and folders >name of song) for one of the songs you downloaded. That should tell you what folder it's in and you should find the other song there also.
