Welcome to the forum Susan - aka 'Enablers-R-US' - sounds like you are getting a very good start - just remember we thrive on PICTURES. We tend to be GREAT enablers but not so much on the $$$$ help cause we are all broke from 'enabling' - lol

btw - those dollar houses at Walmart - I bought one of each style also - could not pass them up. I have a rather large number of the bigger Christmas village houses but I am going to glitter these up and do a small fantasy village ......

Lynne: I have some large houses too,but I thought these small ones would make great "fillers".
And then... to top it off ... my collections etc. catalog came in the mail today and they have the most adorable little candy stripe fairy in it.. hmmm... I'm having to hide..oops..I mean store my goodies in the trunk of the car until BF isn't at home... lol. Do ya'll think if he sees all this stuff that he'll buy the "temporary insanity" plea ... rofl.

Welcome Susan. I did my winter tablescape yesterday & thought "hmmm, I really didn't spend that much on it". I get alot of my things at yard sales & the placemats, napkins and napkin rings were super bargains I bought this past summer at yard sales.

I did change my table completely from last year, but still thought I didn't have that much money into it, til I sat there & started adding in my head what I had spent!!!!!

It was way more than I had realized!!! I did not tell hubby, let him think it was just a few bucks for all of it!

I usually plan ahead & get most at yard sales, but this year with deciding to do winter scape instead of a xmas theme, I did have to buy alot at the stores!!!! (plus I went from golds to silver accents which meant I couldn't use any things from last year)!!!!!!!!!!

So, my advice is: plan ahead as much as possible and look for BARGAINS all year long!!!

Welcome, Susan...and apparently you fit right in with us, LOL. You even became an Enabler yourself since both Bright and I missed seeing those Wally World village houses. Plus you mentioned PURPLE ornaments to me....arrgghhh.
Isn't it fun to spend someone else's money? LOL
And good luck getting anyone here to help pay the bill, a few of us have tried that in the past. Sadly, it doesn't work. So we just encourage others to spend more money too.

Susan, Welcome from me also. Everyone has already told you what it's like around here. We're great at enabling. And of course, pics, pics, pics! You'll get lots of oohs and aahs, but if there's any $ flowing, I must have missed them. LOL

I think your "temporary insanity" plea might work although I've passed that. DH has labeled me as "past insanity".

The biggest mistake I ever made was to buy a SUV without a trunk. There's NO "storing" place.

I missed the dollar houses at Walmart also. I was just there last night and now I need some. They would be perfect for one of my Christmas tables. ;~)

Bright - all I do is add glitter 'snow' where they have the snow painted on the houses .....

Lynne, that's a great idea to add a bit more sparkle to them. Why do I have a feeling allot of us will be doing that to our decorations this year???? LOL

I have to tell you that even though I tried to be extra careful with the glitter at Thanksgiving--there's still lots of "sparkles" around here. And I even had to have everyone "shake" their napkins before they used them because the leaves I used for napkin rings had glitter on them! ;o)

Oreosmom, I'm glad you had so much fun shopping. And when you can find neat things for $1.00, it's hard to pass them up.

Mo: When BF finally does ask where all that stuff came from,I just tell him I've had it "forever" and you just never pay any attention ! giggle :)

Yachter: I love TS,YS,GW,etc. and pick up nice things there,plus my sisters and I swap stuff around,especially if it has to do with chickens ! I need to see if any of them took pics of the 6 tablescapes I did for our family reunion in Sept. I thought they turned out beautifully..especially the candle holders I had a friend cut for me out of logs.

Purplemoon: I do have an "Oreo". He won't fit in your lap or on a windowsill though. He's my 8 mo.old Paso Fino colt.He's black and white and has a perfect heart shape on his back. We have 5 horses and are expecting another foal in Jan.BF calls them my "yard ornaments" ...lol.

Sandi: If your SUV has one of those wells behind the back seat for your spare tire.. raise the cover..store your stuff and put the cover back down. Then hope and pray you don't have a flat tire !! lol !

Oh darn, now you go mention horses, and a paint at that.
I think you need to send me photos of them at my reg. email since they aren't holiday decor! Tho to me, they would be, LOL. I love horses tho haven't had any since the 80s. And I had paint horses. I really want to see some photos of Oreo wearing his heart! Please?

Purplemoon,I'm going to try and send you some pics of my "babies". I know I've got pics of Oreo and Coquetta ( his mom ) saved on my computer. They were taken the day we brought them home and my little guy was so scared. He's shed his "baby hair" and is completely black and white now.You know,since it's almost Christmas, I can upgrade them from "yard ornaments" to Christmas ornaments.. lol.

Susan, How sweet!! We have three, dh has a clydsdale, dd has a app...and my mare is a black and white paint. Very high spirited!!! Dh wants me to get rid of her cause he's afraid I'll get hurt. and guess what he calls them....YARD ORNAMENTS!!! Did you see the little people to go with the little houses? They are $1 as well. I got one set a mailman and mail box and a fireman carring an ax.

Lynne, your little houses are cute and I love the extra sparkle! I swear, I'm so aggravated with our WM this year...they don't have hardly any Christmas decorations. No village pieces at all! I would have loved to have some of those $1 houses.

Oreos Mom, I got the photos and thank you. He's wonderful, and such great markings. Now you make me want to see more photos of him as he's shed his baby hair, and I'd love to watch him grow. (aren't I the pest!!). I never get enough of horse photos tho. I've got several Kodak albums loaded with ones I "needed" to save and see over and over. LOL.

Bright, your paint mare sounds like the gelding I use to barrel-race when I was 18-20. My parents were terrified I'd get hurt as he was so high-spirited. I loved that horse so much, he was a wild red and white Overo, with a gold mane and tail.

Bright, you lucky girl ! I love draft horses..just don't have enough room for one. We have a black and white overo Saddle horse mare who sounds like yours. My DIL usually rides her because she's too high spirited for me..not uncontrollable..just high spirited. Just stay safe and if you're comfortable with her,tell DH not to worry so much !
