vala unless you really want to use this thing as a tablet I really would consider NOT doing this update at least not now, I would enjoy it exactly as it is, it can do a LOT just like it is, I have not done the update on mine yet and not sure I will. I really like it as it is. If the time comes when the update seems to be working more easily and I really feel the need to have the other apps then I may do it or if I buy another PDN and do that one. Especially since you have not been using it at all yet, use it and enjoy it for a while before you get into an update that you may find very frustrating. I think everyone moving up to this update should definitely back up their current firmware or at the very least go into settings and write down what firmware version you have and your serial number so that should you need to revert back you at least know what one to go back to.

After I got my Android phone, I kind of stopped using my Novel very much, and when this update came out, I was busy and didn't get around to it. When I finally found time, I couldn't find my charger. I finally found it this weekend, recharged the battery and installed the update. I had to run it several times and when I finished, I was missing some videos (but they're still on my laptop, so I can transfer them when I get a chance). Overall, I like it, but I wish they had gone to a higher release level than 2.0. I also wish we had access to the full marketplace rather than the limited one they give us. I forgot how much I disliked the sensitivity (or lack thereof) of the screen. I bought a package of DS styluses, which helps a lot, but I like the response I get from my phone a lot better. But it's definitely easier to read things like books and web pages on the Novel (and that type of use makes the screen sensitivity easier to live with). I'll have to download some videos to it and see how they play. IIRC, videos didn't always display very smoothly with the old OS.

I think if it were going to burn it out it would do it almost right away. If it worked fine I would roll with it again if it were me. I have had so dam many chargers for different devices and have never had one burn anything out.

the Pandigital I had was very good I used it a long time till I got another brand and then I passed the PDN on to one of my family so they could use it and still are. They have several models however so that may be the situation. it should be fine as a basic ereader. I prefer them to have the epub format readers because there are so many epub sources including the library books. You may be able to add the kindle for android app to this one Kat but I really don't know since I have not seen one. When you get it let me know the actual model number and i will see what I can find out on it.
