I own a Liebherr 36" and am familiar with the 24" and 30" models as well. Liebherr units are quiet, super energy efficent and well designed as to layout and appearance. Northland side-steps the federal efficiency standards for the Energy Star rating due to some technicality related to the size of the company (I've also heard that Northland is up for sale, which may not be a good sign, since AGA bought it a few years ago and apparently can't make it profitable). Jenn-Air is a Whirlpool built product that is much the same as all the other brands that are sold under the corporate umbrella. Liebherr has the cachet and engineering of a world class refrigeration product. Initial cost aside, I'd definitely buy a Liebherr over the other units on your list.

Perhaps a little more research could have been done here?

Are you saying since Mercedes Benz, built a 240D that all their cars are much the same? Or since GM usta make multi-brands of cars, they were all the same.
Or Since Bosch ownes Gaggenau and several other brands, and at least as of right now, the Miele Fridges are manufactured under the Bosch Umbrella, that these products are "All The Same"?

But, lets look at the facts. Jenn-air was one of the first, and they still do, use the variable speed compressor. Look at some of the new Liebherr adds, They now "Tout" "THEIR" varible speed compressor. As far as I can tell, none of the other Whirlpool fridges use that compressor (alto it is entirely possible I missed one).

Anyway, point is, evaluate each appliance on it's own whether it be a Miele, Bosch, Kitchenaid, etc etc.
Yep we can put them all under "One Umbrella" but I suspects somebody that spent 4X the price of a regular oven to buy a Gaggeneau and you call it an "Umbrella Bosch"---well You might hafta beat a "Hasty Retreat" from their kitchen!!

Personal experience with a Jenn-Air 48" built in and panneled Fridge, 4 years trouble free, quiet, love the way it is laid out inside, Love the 3 different digitally controlled and displayed temp zones in the Refer compartment and No pulled back muscles trying to reach stuff on that very high shelf that the competition has.

It is usually unwise to rely on simple brand names and reliable general past performance exceeding two or three years when shopping for appliances or autos these days. Who builds what and where for whom and what components of what quality are supplied by outsiders, foreign and domestic, at what particular price points is often in a state of continuous flux.

We are still using a very old Maytag washer, and a hotpoint gas dryer. The Washer has been completely trouble free (and its gotta be 15 years old), The dryer , occasionally the burner does not light, but I usually just fiddle with the controls and it works for a while again.
No service calls on either. Buttttttt
wife says She wants to replace them before she retires, probably around the 1st of next year. Unfortunately, right now, I haven't a clue what to buy, and in fact I am trying to get her to keep the washer and just replace the dryer.
I just haven't heard that many good things about any of the new washers----Have You?
I will start doing some research pretty soon and will let ya know what I find, but at this juncture in time , I gotta plead "Complete Ignorance" when it comes to washers and driers.
I hope you are as fortunate in picking those as I have been with our kitchen appliances.

Gary makes a good point, the variable speed compressor is quieter and more efficient so I now wee the Jenn air in a new light.

I have a 30" Liebherr freestanding and have been extremely happy with it. I would buy it again and highly recommend it.

This fridge is nearly silent, the freezer is excellent, it keeps food for a surprisingly long time and it is well lit.

I happen to like the shelf configuration and as I'm tall it's great. It does its job really well with 0 issues. Worth the $$ too.

DH who never heard of it and wouldn't know the name of it or any other appliance also occasionally says what a good fridge it is. The fact that he even notices is a ringing endorsement.

Thanks for that aprince. The Liebher is no doubt a very good fridge, I think all reviews I've see have been positive, but I do like folks to know they have choices and provide as accurate info as I can find on those.

You may recall some of the early post on the Elux Speed Oven, "It isn't a real oven" "It runs off 120 Volts"-wrong 240 volts.
"It doesn't have top and bottom burners" partially true-has side burner instead of a botton burner and top burner is covered so it can't broil, but as far as other things go, cooking times, Menu driven etc, It matches the Miele, pretty well.

So anyway I took the time to post about that as I did the Fridge--with the hope--that it truly helps some folks in the decision making!

I'm very happy to hear about the electrical/mechanical differences between Jenn-air and Whirlpool. I currently have a Whirlpool SxS with ice/water in the door. It has been absolutely trouble free for about 10 years. However, with this kitchen remodel, we would like to go with a CD model. I like the layout and appearance of JennAir, but really didn't know anything about it. Thanks for the info.
Gary btw I have Whirlpool Duet w&d and have NO complaints. As part of this remodel, I'm going to stack them and get a new big broom closet. But that's a subject for another forum.

Disclaimer: I am NOT a fridge expert, just giving my opinion about a fridge I had a few years ago. Things may be different now. That being said, in 2007 I bought a 42" wide northland because the capacity was the same as a 48" subzero. Great on looks, size and price. Very bad on noise. Didn't realize it was going to be so loud and we had an open floor plan. For that alone, I wouldn't do it again. Another problem was that it broke within 1 year (literally under the wire on the warranty). The technician who came out was extremely expensive (again, thank goodness for the warranty). He indicated that there weren't many people who were qualified to work on a northland so I wouldn't want to maintain it. Don't live in the house anymore. Getting ready to remodel another kitchen. Looking at subzero or liebherr at this point. Hope this helps.
