It is interesting Pooh. Based on your post I downloaded and ran the program. At the moment this is still a BETA program, in other words it is being tested by those of us who elect to use it. Once all the kinks are worked out the final product will be available no doubt. On my computer it searched all 3 hard drive partitions and found 10 insecure programs and 4 end of life. However those tagged as end of life will not be removed, these are old programs I use and will continue to take the small risk they might pose. The live link to the right of each entry takes you to the needed update site for that particular program. It is one more program running in the background. Time wil tell if it stays on my computer but it is an interesting program

do the updates as I said originally those programs normally will simply over write and replace the old versions. Then do as lynn suggested and go back to secunia inspector and see if it is showing you are current. do not do anything in add remove till you have all updates done then if secunia shows you still have an old version showing you can then delete it but that should be taken care up when the update happens. Java for some reason is the one that is bad about not over writing the old version and there fore you have to go in and remove the old ones after you get the new one. As to Adobe reader that is a personal preference if you like it and it is working well and the updates are not critical security updates then keep the one you have.

I have never seen Open Office offered in firefox install has anyone? I have seen it offered in some other updates like java and flash in the past. also make sure when you do firefox updates and the browser reopens to a new page other than your homepage to close it and reopen it again because it only does that the first time to let you know that it did update properly it does not change the homepage the next time you reopen it will be to your usual home page. It will do the same thing if you had any updates for your add-ons it will open to that page to let you know the update was successful. If you did install Open office it will be listed in your add remove programs list in control panel.

Ran all three programs. I already had Superantispyware free on my computer and ran that first. It didn't find anything but cookies, which it deleted. Note: I had just run Superantispyware when I started my computer yesterday. Next downloaded and ran Malewarebytes' Anti-Malware and ran the full scan. It paused and there was displayed over its screen this message: Content IE5\ZVLJ35OW\freescan[1].htm Virus found Fakealert I chose "move to vault", clicked the red X and went back to scanning. At end found nothing about a vault and was advised no threats found. This is what the log looked like when it finished. Didn't get any frightening message other than it freed 491,594 Mbs. So far the only thing that has popped up which it has been doing since I installed the Superantispyware free edition is the IE screen with TrendMicro antivirus is nolonger supported and I can buy TrendMicro antivirusplus/antispyware for X$$. This has been happening every time I turn on my computer. Very annoying but I don't think it has hurt anything. I could be wrong. When the security warning came up yesterday, I did not click on anything, just cautiously ran away, so maybe the damage was averted. Thank you so much for your help. It's supposed to very good but it tells me to "uninstall any antivirus before installing DP2008". As I understand it, these three programs above, are not running all the time?
