Problem -- macromedia flash?

Do I have to have macrodedia flash player in order to have garden web work properly? I've had no problems until I deleted the above because secunia said it was insecure & I couldn't seem to get it fixed. I don't seem to have a problem anywhere else I've tried (other sites), but on this site it takes forrrrevvvvever for a page to load. I can't seem to get macromedia flash player to download. I get a notice that says it can't connect and to retry.

Anything particular you need to know?

I think there's something going on with GW this evening. It is taking a long time to load for me, also.

Working fine with Firefox, very slow for me with IE and also with Chrome.

Thank you all for your help. I'm beginning to think the problem is with Secunia. I remember getting a notice to update Flash about a week ago and did, (I'm not one hundred percent it was Adobe Flash). I know I updated Adobe Shockwave (no idea what I use that for). I tried everything last night and gave up. I currently have Flash 11.7 but have the 11.8 plugin. I will try a system restore, thank you Snidely, if necessary. I'm waiting to see if I get an update notice from Adobe. If not tonight, I'll do a restore. I like using Secunia because it checks my machines for updates. You are correct that these programs are probably unnecessary, but I find they inform me before the company does and keep reminding me. I've had a problem with Secunia in the past not recognizing an already updated program. I think this might be the case. Thanks, Donna I appreciate the uninstall tool. Didn't find that on my own. This is just one reason I seldom use Firefox. Seems they've had lots of problems lately with add-ons, apps, and other necessities. I mostly have used Chrome and just do not have these sorts of problems.

Has this been an issue since the most recent Flash upgrade? For security reasons I don't recommend this, but if resolving this issue is important to you reverting to the prior version of Flash may be a solution. DA This post was edited by damccoy on Fri, Aug 2, 13 at 10:22

get the flash reader from Macromedia. its free. You may have to uninstall and reinstall works( it doesnt do flash well, hehe). JamesS

The graphics is not loading on the site for some odd server problem maybe and it's holding the whole show up.

Yep, something wrong with the site. I'm on DSL and I turned off images and java-script and it still takes about a minute to load.

Thanks, all. Now why didn't I think of that? I guess because I installed a new 1 meg of ram this afternoon, and surprise surprise that went well, then some clean up, so I just figured it was something I had done wrong. Just assuming the worst. Hope they get it fixed soon

It definitely has to do with the graphics server. I pointed graphics.gardenweb.com to localhost and pages load quickly (but look awful). I was going to let GW know, but the "contact us" link doesn't work.

The contact page for GW is down, but the parent ivillage contact still works. I suspect that the more they hear the more likely they are to respond.
