Problem -- macromedia flash?

Do I have to have macrodedia flash player in order to have garden web work properly? I've had no problems until I deleted the above because secunia said it was insecure & I couldn't seem to get it fixed. I don't seem to have a problem anywhere else I've tried (other sites), but on this site it takes forrrrevvvvever for a page to load. I can't seem to get macromedia flash player to download. I get a notice that says it can't connect and to retry.

Anything particular you need to know?

I think there's something going on with GW this evening. It is taking a long time to load for me, also.

Working fine with Firefox, very slow for me with IE and also with Chrome.

DA, watch that thinking while eating lunch...it's bad for the digestion! However it is much appreciated. Below are the answers to your questions. 1. Have you tried FF bare boned with not add-ons to see if this occurs? Ans. Yes 2. Have you tried a prior version of FF? Ans, Yes, just a few minutes ago. I un-installed ver 11.0 and installed the older 10.0.2 in it's place. I also un-installed Flash Player and re-installed that again. ...still the same results after shutting down and re-starting! 3. Has this been an issue since the most recent Flash upgrade? For security reasons I don't recommend this, but if resolving this issue is important to you reverting to the prior version of Flash may be a solution. DA This post was edited by damccoy on Fri, Aug 2, 13 at 10:22

Second the unplugging experiment. Unplug it from the wall for a period of time. The unplugging of things goes way back to the early '70s. Some persons servicing the million dollar computers would power everything off for almost any mysterious undiagnosed problem and then proceed with diagnoses if the problem didn't disappear.

That used to happen to me and I read somewhere it is a false update and FF had something to do with it. I still get it when I watch a u tube. It tells me I need flash player to watch it and in spite of the warning it still plays.

The graphics is not loading on the site for some odd server problem maybe and it's holding the whole show up.

Yep, something wrong with the site. I'm on DSL and I turned off images and java-script and it still takes about a minute to load.

Thanks, all. Now why didn't I think of that? I guess because I installed a new 1 meg of ram this afternoon, and surprise surprise that went well, then some clean up, so I just figured it was something I had done wrong. Just assuming the worst. Hope they get it fixed soon

It definitely has to do with the graphics server. I pointed graphics.gardenweb.com to localhost and pages load quickly (but look awful). I was going to let GW know, but the "contact us" link doesn't work.

The contact page for GW is down, but the parent ivillage contact still works. I suspect that the more they hear the more likely they are to respond.
