manual sleep mode

one time I had gotten from here how to put the computer into sleep or hibernate mode by useing some buttons on the

keyboard, can anyone help me with this problem

I've made desktop shortcuts for hibernate and sleep. (i'm lazy and forgetfull)
Sleep maybe can be tricky - not all computers do a regular sleep.

For Vista, Win7 is probably the same !
forget xp, open cmd prompt and shutdown -?

Right click desktop , new... shortcut...

hibernate command;
shutdown /h

sleep command;
C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe Powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState Sleep

Stop using Sleep mode...Vista has SO many bugs I can't even begin to rant. I am a veteran IT person and can tell you with certainty there is no fix for your issue except to not do that. Vista just sucks.

Yes, you can use the quick wash in all cycles. While I don't have the 700, I have the 6400, which is it's predecessor. The only real changes are a higher temp on sanitary and a cycle for waterproofing outer wear. The quick wash reduces cycle time by 15 minutes on cottons and sanitary, by 7 minutes on PP, and by 5 minutes on the 3 delicate cycles. I don't tend to use it very much, but it cleans lightly soiled stuff just fine. The quick wash reduces the time in each phase of the cycle, not just the wash phase. You still get the same number of rinses and spins, just shorter time. You can still select bleach or extra rinse when quick wash is programmed. Hope this helps, Todd

My WF218 that I did the original testing on is still going strong (just did three loads on this fine Saturday afternoon). My routine has adapted as follows: -Tankless hot water heater set to 140F. One of the benefits of tankless is no wasted energy on standby losses with higher setting. I don't run higher for risk of scalding my toddler in the tub or shower. -I don't have a laundry sink, but just noting that if I had one, like Todd above I would prime the hot water to get the standing cold water out of the pipes. I do this for my kitchen dishwasher, which is quite far from the water heater. -I have the cold water shutoff throttled down. It seems like the Samsung's still pull some from the cold water supply when you are filling for warm or hot. Not sure if this really helps, but I do feel like throttling it down nets more from the hot supply. Like someone mentioned you can't shut off cold completely, plus you need it for the rinses anyway. -I try to wash in larger loads, as the larger loads fill more water, and thus the cold standing water in the pipes becomes diluted with more hot water. -Lastly, since we don't wash towels separately, my wife doesn't use the Towels mode, and so when I do the laundry, I've basically taken over Towels mode as my full Manual mode. It has full access to all temps and settings, and will remember my last used settings, which I'll run 80% of the time in H/C, to net about a 120F wash for most laundry including colors. A 130F or 140F option would definitely be nice, but I've been OK with the 120F washes.

Ithink I didn't explain myself very well I somehow have lost all hibernate and sleep funtion on this computer and years back there a way of just useing the key letters etc. to instanly put the computer into hibernate otherwise my computer runs all day not good I just want to be able to
put it in one of these modes with the keys thank you to the 2 people who tried to help mabe there is another solution

I am useing vista home version sure appreciate the help so far but nothing is working Iam not very smart on this thing and I am a older person, if there is anything I miss is that feature.

Hibernate sometimes gets turned off in Vista by some clean up programs.

If hibernate is turned off on the shut down menu, you will need to re-enable it. If you don't it will never work with any keystrokes.

If you know how to open a black administrator cmd window, you can enable it by typing in;
powercfg -h on

Some laptops have special key presses to enter sleep and hibernate...
Is this a laptop ? If so what is the make and model. Maybe someone will find and read your manual.
