Hi Zep, Thanks zep, I happened to see that when I clicked on "More" in the Auslogics Defrag program. I was just curious and I really appreciate your information. My computer so far is not running slow so, now I know to stay away from the Auslogics Boost Speed. I use the Disk Cleanup in my computer and that seems to take care of everything, may I ask then why have CCleaner if the temporary files are being removed when using Disk Cleanup? From what you have said and the things that I have read about CCleaner it is a very good program but, I was wondering what the difference is between the two? Hello exgm, Thank you for the information I do appreciate it. I am very nervous about using any type of Registry Cleaner, I would know nothing about trying to fix something if it went wrong. The Windows Vista Disk Defragmenting Utility is considered an improvement on its predecessor XP. The defrag engine and the manageability of fragmentation has been improved. The Disk Defragmenter runs as a low priority task in the background without affecting the performance of the computer. It runs only when the machine is idle ! It uses the Task Scheduler to automatically keep the hard disk defragmented. This automated defragmentation does not affect the performance of the Windows. For Scandisk do this - Click Start click My computer click on C:\ to highlight it click File at the top of the screen Click Properties in the drop down menu click Tools tab in the 'Error checking choice click 'Check now' Plcae a check mark against either of the 2 options if you wish - I would click to "Automatically fix errors" click Start Once that has completed return to the same place and click to Defrag the drive. Do not be afraid to defrag your E:\ drive Sugar, if it is the larger and perhaps busier then maybe it is more important to defrag that than the C:\ drive. Do it when you are leaving to prepare a meal or any other time you will be away from the computer.

Hmm, you are doing just great Shaddy. Good stuff.+ Disk cleanup. If you feel uncomfortable selecting things in the disk cleanup program why not install and run Ccleaner? You can download it by clicking here. This is the slim version without the Yahoo toolbar attached which is great. Remember where you download it to then go there and double click on the file to install it. Once installed just run at the default settings, there is no need to alter anything. Do your defrag after the disk cleanup or run Ccleaner. That way all the junk has been removed and you are only sorting the good stuff. Right now I would not attempt to remove items from the start menu. Wait till you are really comfortable with XP. Your choice of course. Trend MicroÂs Housecall and Superantispyware are good and you can run those at any time you feel the need. Superantispyware perhaps every week to 10 days. I generally do mine about every 14 days. To turn off the screensaver RIGHT click on the desktop, click Properties, click the Screensaver tab and select None. Click Apply then OK. Done. However  while you are in the Screensaver window you could click on Power, near the bottom. Another window will open and you can set the monitor to go off after so many minutes of no activity and the hard drive to stop spinning too for so many minutes. I set mine to either 10 or 15 minutes but you choose whatever you feel is good. Leave System Standy at Never.
