FireFox add-ons - which ones do you like?

When I first started using FireFox, someone recommended I download the add-ons: FlashGot and Noscript which I did. I love how they work.

So my question: Which other ones do think are really cool or just very useful? It's kind of unbelievable how many there are available. It would take me forever to go through that list.

I use several, the main one being Remove It Permanently. Among the others are adblock and adblock filterset, flashblock and quickjava. I love remove it permanently. If you see something on a web page you prefer not to see just right click on it and click remove it permanently on the drop down menu and you won't see it again.

Bookmarks and Scrapbook are different. I can back up Bookmarks easily following the path I gave in my first post. There is a file for Bookmarks inside the next stop after Profiles, which is v20fqq3t.default. I forgot to mention that last one. There is also a folder for Scrapbook inside v20fqq3t.default, but that folder contains a number of files, including "Backup" and several RDF files that appear to be individual backups but are just a meaningless list of figures when I click them, as well as a folder for "Data." "Backup" itself is also full of lines like the following: RDF:Description RDF:about="urn:scrapbook:item20060912103442" NS8:id="20060912103442" NS8:type="" NS8:title="Scappy String Quilt Instructions" NS8:chars="UTF-8" NS8:comment="" NS8:icon="" NS8:source="http://home.pmt.org/~awalter/string.html"/ So I don't see how saving Backup would give me something to use in the event of a crash. Groan. Come to think of it, Roxio appears to insist on individual files rather than folders when I want to burn a disk, so maybe I'll have to export everything to the desktop and then laboriously transfer it to Roxio as a "project" and burn that. What gets me is that previously--maybe a long time ago--there was just one folder that I could transfer to a zip disk and from it open up FF again with all the scrapbook entries. Somewhere along the line that changed. I do find Scrapbook very useful because any Web page saved there is always there, along with its clickable links, even if the original page has been taken down.

That's an overstatement. People with pacemakers need to confirm with their physicians that their pacemakers won't be affected. There was a study published in Europe that a certain kind of pacemaker might potentially be of concern. I've never heard of problems with other implants, but I suppose if you have a steel rod in your arm it might also be something to be concerned about. The magnetic field is designed to operate within about a quarter inch of the surface and dissipate from there. There are also pot detectors which keep the inductors from turning on without an iron/steel pan to interact with. Most also require a minimum diameter. What's generally said is that you'd have to lie down on the pan to have a problem. That may be overly flip, but the warnings are to caution people to consider their implants and check them out with their doctors. I've never heard of someone actually having an incident with one.

I've only had Rebecca for a year, but it bloomed well and didn't get wilt. As a new plant it was fuller and had more flowers than my wilt-prone Niobe has ever had in more than 10 years. I know other folks who like Niobe, but I really need to pull mine out since there are so many better clematis.

I think you need to create an idea book to discover what you like best. Go to the Houzz side and save photos of all the kitchens that you love. Grab a few kitchen magazines and pull out the photos of kitchens that make you squeal with delight. Just do this randomly with no agenda, i.e., don't tell yourself I'll only pull out kitchens that are white, for example. After you have collected quite a few of these kitchen photos, take a look at them and see what things are the most common about these kitchens, the thing that drew you to that kitchen in the first place. If you're having trouble defining that, post the photos here. Some people have done that and the creative folks here with good design eyes have helped them identify the details that they really like and would want in their finished kitchen. Doing this should lead you to learning whether oak, quarter-sawn or not, maple, painted, two-tone or single tone, yada yada are your real preferences and help you make the right choice for you. While I respect the opinions of all who answered your question, they don't live in your kitchen. You do. So, yes, it's nice to get ideas from people. Sometimes they see a flaw or have an idea you wouldn't have thought of yourself. But don't choose your cabinets by taking a poll and buying the one with the most votes. I hope you have time to do an idea book. I think you'll find it illuminating.

libbyliz, I use FlashBlock to get rid of those annoying flashing ads. I love it.

I would like to know if anyone has tried KeyScrambler Personal. I mainly want to know if any problems have come up while using it.

I love Flashblock. No flashing ads, no blinking crap. It's great. I use adblock also.
I'll have to try Remove it Permanently! I like flashblock because you can enable the 'flashers' if you want to.

I need to get myself to Firefox again to check out what all add-ons are available & hope this time I don't feel overwhelmed with the selection & become confused about what I need.

P.S. - I reinstalled Firefox, setting it as my default browser, not IE7.

I use noscript, adblock and adblock filter set G, as well as IE tab (very, very rarely use it but it's handy when needed) and the FireFox Google toolbar. I have browster but sometimes it's annoying and I really have my doubts if it's any faster than loading a page. I never get flash ads, so there is no need for something like Remove it Permanently, although it's possible I have flash turned off. I also have Fasterfox. Is it? I have no idea. There are way, way too many add-ons for FireFox. I just use the bare minimum of extensions to make browsing less annoying.

Well I thought the Canadian spell check was cool. However when I try to rationalise I realise that untill a real Canadian spell check comes along I shall have to realize I need to rationalize until I learn to ignore it or modify and please myself.

Weeell it is one of those gadgets that tells us Canadians if we can or cannot spell correctly in the language we are familiar with in our country. It should direct us to the correct spelling.

Strangely the world of the internet is not entirely populated by Americans even if you are in the majority.

I especially like the add-on "All-in-one-gesture".
No need to click a button for back or forward, refresh page, close tab, undo close tab, the list goes on and on. Just move your mouse - up, down, left, right or a combination of said gestures. And you can customize.
