Target is putting out some wonderful Ornies

I went to Target last night hoping they had out their ornaments, I would say they had out at least 80% of them. And like a locus to a field of wheat, I buzzed happily thru! I totally wiped out a few rows of ornies...there was a lady and her DD standing near by, the girl said to her mom in a light whisper "mom, she is buying ALL of them!" I think she was afraid I was moving into her part of the aisle. and I admit I do look pretty scary when I am on a mission, there is something disconcerning about seeing a middle aged lady, her brow breaking out into a sweat, eyes glazed over by the enormous delcious choices before her all the time mutterring to herself "yes, I can get by with less food this week"...Well, what can I say, the early bird gets the worm LOL Target has... (in this case HAD) the most beautiful silver ornaments, so I HAD (I am sure now there was someone twisting my arm) to buy them all...who knows if they will be around for next years season..(that is always how I justify my "sickness" to my DD, with total practicality. I mean I think it is practical thinking, don't you my fellow addicts? LOL But at any rate my fellow christmas addicts, as long as you don't live in the State of Virgina, you will have plenty off shopping opportunities, poor Mary Ruth lives near me, but she still has a chance, I did not get to the Target where she lives.....YET.

Anyhoo, definately check it out, they also had some glass hanging crystals (99 cent) each, so I wiped those out too (even though I have enough already...I think...OK you can never have enough crystals....

Judith, I do not have a car today and you are causing me anxiety! That means I have to get out to Target SOON! SILVER???? You are killing me... that is what I am looking for this Christmas... Gotta get up pretty early to outshop you! GLAD you are having FUN and getting things you LOVE! I am so happy to read when someone really ENJOYS what they do and has a chance to endulge in their passion! You go girl!

Aw, Mary Ruth, you know I'll leave you some, it is the kind of silver your are collecting now too, Target is a bit pricy for the silver ones, they are a good size, but since this is what I am going for, I am just biting the bullet (and not eating as much) :)

I bought almost all my seeds from Baker creek this year. The pink pearls are the most massive producers I have ever grown, although I havent really grown much, this summer and last summer were the first time I had my own place to try and grow, but they dont taste as good as they produce, they are good, but for as many tomatoes as I am getting, giving away, and throwing away, it would be nice if they were super! My squash from them did great, but I think powdery mildew has finally done in most of them, except the golden zuccs which I started later, and are far away from the green zuccs, and other squashes. but back to toms, I planted, WAY late, carbons and cherokee purples I bought from them, transplanted them when they were very tiny, we had no rain and horrid hot weather all of June, of 17 plants I think I have 11 left, but they sure tried! as badly as I treated them, and still coninue to, ( I dont fertilize, and they get watered when it rains) I cant believe how they are growing, and they have tons of flowers, and pretty fair amount of toms on them, some getting big. Unfortunately I thought they were all CP's. so planted all in one spot, then turned my container around and realized one side of my box was CP's and one side was carbons, so we'll see what I ended up with, although I am not usre what either really looks like:) My Striped Romans and Purple russians I bought from Baker Creek were decimated by early bad weather, but started to come back, then one night deer or something came in and pretty much decimated them again!! I almost cried. amazingly enough they are coming back, whats left of them, and even some some baby romans, ( 2 left of 6 plants after the raid) and even the purple russians are trying to make fruit. I think Baker Creek must sell some pretty sturdy seeds!! I have put mine through hell, and they are still making something for me to eat later! AND, I planted Grerat Whites from baker creek also, from seeds, they looked awful at first but now I have little baby great whites! or after reading these posts, who know?? I havent read much good about any of the white tomaotes flavor since I planted them, but like others, I just wanted to see one! So I hope these give me something, and really turn out to be white! They are next to the white habanero, so they know what to do hopefully1

Janie, I made these this past Christmas. I saw instructions on another board. After poking a hole in the top of each gingerbread cookie with a wooden skewer, it said to bake them at 200 degrees for 4 hours. However, some people said that when they used these instructions, that their cookies fell apart, so I cooked mine at 200* for 3 hours. I used the pointed end of the skewer to make the hole. On the front of the box, it said that the cookies were "soft", but I thought mine were pretty hard, so the pointed end helped get the hole through. After baking and cooling, I dipped them in melted parafin wax, and laid them on waxed paper to dry. I used red satin ribbon for hanging. The cookies already have red and green sugar sprinkled over the thin coat of white frosting, so I didn't decorate them at all. Someone said they put a small strip of red fleece around the necks of their ornies. I hung mine on our tree early in December, and when we took the tree down in January, my cookies still looked perfect and smelled great. I chose not to save the ornaments, as I didn't want a food item in my storage area. I think they could have been frozen in a protective plastic container, and could have been saved for next year. My only complaint was that out of 2 boxes of 8 of the gingerbread cookies, I had only 7 that were not broken when I took them out of their little individual cellophane packaging. Good luck!

I got the last 4 cushions in this pttern t my local Target, cn't find them online, but they are 2010 pttern so I'm going to cll and see if they're getting more in stock (nd maybe give me sle price on them). I think I'll just get 2 more (or settee cushion if they're getting one in nd it's less $$ and fits) and give up on recovering cushions. Yes, it would be less $$ if I used the $2/yd fabric and the cushions I already hve, but it's easier to just spend another $20 and get 2 more cushions since I usually go to GW near that Target once a week nyway. It kind of blends in with the house color, doesn't "pop" but fter a month of looking for cushions/fabric I'm tired, $60 to do 4 chairs and 1 settee (I think I'm going to put the other settee I got guilted into buying bck on CL) isn't that bad. I'd spend more than that on the outdoor foam to make cushions, never mind S/H nd fbric (even at $2/yd!). I've been seeing you join in lots of threads, Becky - just couldn't stay awy huh ;-)? After you get some sleep and get some things done, come bck tonight nd tell us how some of your projects re going OK? (Sigh, now the i is working, but a is sticky - and I don't feel like going bck and inserting them so forgive my old handmedown laptop).

Thanks for the heads up Judith. Last year my DIL got the nicest ornaments there, large package of the fancy ones at a really good price. Of course, they were all gone by the time she told me and I got over there! ;o( The crystal ones sound nice too--will have to go look--DH and I both need to lose some weight anyway! LOL

Sounds like you had fun collecting your treasures--and just think of it as doing your part to help the economy! ;o)

I have been waiting for Target to put out their stuff I was in mine the other day and they still were getting rid of Halloween. They have some nice stuff and if I wait until clearance they usually don't have it. Will have to go check them out but I really don't remember what I bought last year after Christmas when I filled up my empty rubbermaid totes.

You beat me to it!!! I called the local Targ'et when I got off work today... 'yes our CHRISTmas stuff is stocked' she said!!

Did you buy the sets of orni's or the individual ones?? Or a little of both!!!

I saw sooo many I loved but at $3.00 and up apiece I can't budget them. I did find my gold hooks with the beads and got a box of those. Dh has been very upset with my stopping to shop every evening so I didn't spend alot of time...but I will defineatly go back.

Judith you aren't comming to NC any time soon are you??!! LOL!!

What do you do for a living? I need a job like your's so I can buy more dishes ,ornies, as well as accessories!
Congrats on your haul. Can't wait until I see your tree. You could go ahead and put it up now and post pics!
I went to Costco today. Got a 14 piece set of long 4-5" glass crystals ($14.49 for the set) for my tree. Dropped and broke one before I even got it on the tree. Oh well, the 13 look great. They are heavy but very nice.

And where are the photos of your new ornies? I know darn well you don't hide things in your car trunk like another certain person on here does!
I think I better make a note to Self. Avoid Target.

Bright, I've been to Walmart and Michael's looking for those fancy orament hooks! Guess I'll go look for them at Target now--that will give me a good excuse to check out all the pretty ornaments Judith found too! Love it when a plan comes together like that--and I know their stuff sells out quickly! Luvs

Luvs, Walmart has some really pretty ornament hooks. They look like a fancy S with extra curls. I think they come in silver, gold, and a bronze color.

Not at mine yet, PF. I even asked one of the gals in the department. She said they are getting more stuff in everyday, so I should check back in a couple of days. I want to make sure I get some before they sell out! Not sure why, but it does seem that some of the stores out here get things later than the ones on the east coast. Must be sending it by a SLOW train--I can say that because DH is a retired engineer! LOL

I have come to the point where I have to avoid stores too - I am already nearning the end of my entire month of nov's budget for junk stuff!!! And I feel horrible because I have been sneaking things in when DH is not at home. :(

Oh Wow, Judith ...glad you're no where near me ..I'm a Christmas Fiend..uh collector too, and just HATE competition!! I can't wait to see your ornies this year. For years I would do the Day After Christmas circut to get my bargains...But now, seems you can go way before Christmas to do that. Trouble is, they keep putting out a little more and a little different each of the weeks Before Christmas, and y ou find yourself HAVING to buy them. Seems my Christmas Club fund..is becoming larger and larger each year...and NOT just for Presents...

Minnie..might have saved you some trouble with her online Target site...hmmmm have to check it out before Judith wipes..uh... checks it out!!

I hit Walmart after we ate out tonite & picked up a few things for the FLAKE table you are all talking about!!!
Seems none of us can enter a store without buying something for our "tablescape" addiction!!

Here I thought this was a "nice, safe hobby"! HAH!

I'm so glad that I get to enjoy everyone's pretty decorations on this forum. All of you have such great taste and display things so nicely. I'm looking forward to all the pics that will be coming soon. ;o)

Mo, you have a budget for junk stuff! You lucky girl, I just squeeze out the finances for mine by not buying other things like some much needed new clothes! LOL

I often leave things in the car to avoid the Dish Police. He just seems to accept that pretty things are available to decorate the house with! LOL Yesterday, I just brought my packages in and told him I didn't want to hear any big sighs or see any eye rolling because I'm cautious about how much I spend, but it gives me allot of pleasure to look for pretties and bargains. He didn't say a word! Whew! ;o)

I, too, went to Target yesterday. What gorgeous ornaments and decorations and table pretties! I think I got a little sensory overloaded because I walked out with only one thing for my "flakes" table. I wanted a couple more but they didn't have anymore. Said to wait until Mon when their truck comes in.
The black and gold section was incredible. Maybe I'll have to come up with another tree. Maybe in the den........
Then on to Tuesday Morning. I found 2 dish sets I need. One is pink, the other is a Mexican theme. Couldn't bring myself to buy. When I got home I told my husband they would be good Christmas gifts for me (and a lot less expensive than jewelry!) I think he might agree. I'll have to drag him there and show him. Wish me luck.

Well shoot...I HAVE a car today but no Target CLOSE by! I WILL be making a trip to the nearest town where there IS a Target tomorrow (an hours drive away) and you can BET I will be going thru the ornament isle as SOON as I get there!

Minnie, did you "have" to post that link for Target online to browse their Xmss things? Now I see there is a purple finial I need. And Target is only 4 miles from me. Darn.
I'm almost scared to go in the Xmas Dept. Tho maybe the prices will control me after my big shopping spree at the DT. Target is also right by the Walmart that has the little purple Xmas tree....sigh.
Guess I'm in trouble for sure now.

LOL, glad to see you other addicts out there buying up goodies, I figure we are helping out the economy. :)

I haven't been home hardly at all this weekend (other than to sleep, my little dog Toby was ready to report me "missing". I've been trying to put the finishing touches on my decorating plans and it is amazing on how much is already GONE! I also noticed the stores in my area have cut back alot on the amount of ornies they stocked compaired to last years. I am really excited to be seeing everyones trees when you are done.

I use the word 'budget' loosely as a way to pretend that I have my spending under control. LOL.

Judith - I noticed that too about the stores stock. The xmas stuff is far less than what I have seen in previous years and nothing for thanksgiving at any of the stores I went to over the weekend.

Well, I went to a Super Target today, but unfortunately found myself rather disappointed in their selection. I guess I expected "more"? The purple finial I wanted (for a table top) was plastic and looked cheap. I did buy a burgundy glass finial that was pretty, and half the price! I picked up two small ornaments and that was it. If I were seriously ornament and decor shopping, Hobby Lobby is just unbeatable I think. Tho Michaels and JoAnne's have nice things. Just not the huge selection of HL. Walmart has Target beat by far here in Phoenix.

Gues what? I stopped by Target really quick after lunch with my friend yesterday--and they had the fancy ornament hangers! There are 24 in a pack for $3.99. Don't know if the ones everyone was finding at Walmart are cheaper or not--but I didn't want to take a chance on not finding them. Now I'm happy, happy, happy! (Doing the happy dance!) Luvs
