little debbie gingerbread ornies

good afternoon everyone! awhile back someone posted a tute on how to make ornies from the little debbie gingerbread snack cake that comes out only at christmas. the best i remember is that you put them on a cookie sheet and bake them in a 200 degree oven for around 2-3 hours. Does anyone have the directions or have i remembered correctly?? oh and also, before you bake them, take a straw and punch a hole at the top of the gingerbread cake so you will be able to hang it on the tree. when they are finished baking, you spray them with a clear sealer, I think. I have some left over from christmas and was wanting to make them. thanks for any help, Janie

Hi Janied, sorry it looks like none of us know the answer to your question. I've not seen the Little Debbie gingerbread snacks. You might try asking on the Crafts forum, maybe one of the gals over there can help. If you figure it out, be sure to come back and show us okay? Luvs

Janie, I made these this past Christmas. I saw instructions on another board. After poking a hole in the top of each gingerbread cookie with a wooden skewer, it said to bake them at 200 degrees for 4 hours. However, some people said that when they used these instructions, that their cookies fell apart, so I cooked mine at 200* for 3 hours. I used the pointed end of the skewer to make the hole. On the front of the box, it said that the cookies were "soft", but I thought mine were pretty hard, so the pointed end helped get the hole through. After baking and cooling, I dipped them in melted parafin wax, and laid them on waxed paper to dry. I used red satin ribbon for hanging. The cookies already have red and green sugar sprinkled over the thin coat of white frosting, so I didn't decorate them at all. Someone said they put a small strip of red fleece around the necks of their ornies. I hung mine on our tree early in December, and when we took the tree down in January, my cookies still looked perfect and smelled great. I chose not to save the ornaments, as I didn't want a food item in my storage area. I think they could have been frozen in a protective plastic container, and could have been saved for next year.

My only complaint was that out of 2 boxes of 8 of the gingerbread cookies, I had only 7 that were not broken when I took them out of their little individual cellophane packaging. Good luck!

punk...well, you don't have to twist my arm about YS'ing or GS'ing either! My car doesn't have a bit of trouble stopping at those yard signs! The big church one we went to last Fri., I limited myself but scored!...candlestick (which I know now I can't force myself to paint white! It's solid walnut)...so will use as is! LOL! Let's see...got sugar & creamer(Metlox) with green ivy on it, brass little mouse with curved tail in the air (he called to me), box of used craft paints & glitters, 3 hardcover pic books, box of photo cards, 3 ft. turned wood column ($4, believe it or not!)...ahhhh, I could go on & on! I'm in the garden mode,too, right now & lovin' it! But I'll be using some of this good "stuff" yet on this forum! So don't forget to pick me up on that bus! I'll share! LOL! Jeanne S.

Candy, when you told me in an earlier post, when I first joined this forum, that you went all out for Christmas, I knew that you were a kindred spirit. I love everything that you have done: infact it looks so Christmasy that Santa may just decide to live at your house instead of going back to the North Pole. I love your kitchen. That little gingerbread house on the sleigh is just too cute. I did Cermaics in the late eightys and early ninteys and most of what I did was Christmas. I have a nativity, a Christmas tree, A music box with Santa and Mrs. C dancing and my very favorite is a village reminicent of "A Christmas Carol" setting. Your Magi room reminded me that I had done a crossstitch picture that I need to frame that says "Wise Men Still Seek Him". It was supposed to be framed with a mat that had a wise man on a camel cut in the corner, but I could never find the mat. I bought 3 Wisemen at DT to just sit by it. I think that will work, don't you? Someone ask in another post how many wreaths I had made. I never really kept count, but would say that I averaged 20 per day. Starting Oct 30 and ending this past Friday) If I made big one 24" and up maybe 12-15 and if small 10-12 inch maybe 40. I always try to make enough to cover my Christmas shopping for the kids and Gks. You don't know how many times I thought about you guys, while I was working and wishing I had a way to give all of you a fresh wreath. I think my love of Christmas is why I like doing the wreaths so much. One year I let DH talk me out of doing them, and it just never really seemed like Christmas that year. Does anyone here use a train in their villages or under their tree. My DH has a model train that I used to use under my tree. Had to quit that for the present due to two little GSs.Like everyone else, I have to keep going back to look again, my little brain can't handle such an overlood at one time. It really is GREAT!!! Back again! I am so jealous that you are getting a Hobby Lobby! We don't have any here, but I always go there when I am in Missouri visiting relatives. Their prices always seemed more reasonable than Joann's and Michael's. However, my sis says it has changed allot. They used to have lots of wood pieces at really good prices. I'll be visiting there in a few days, the RV park where we will be for a week is really close to it. How soon will yours be open? Sounds like you have gotten lots of projects nearly completed. I only did a few pieces to take with me. I've already sent some things home with family that have visited out here, and I mailed yard signs to all the sisters and sister in laws before. I made those Freedom Blooms signs for SIL and Niece, and will take some of my already painted stash for anyone who might want something. I'm playing on here until time for my appointment, already took my shower and did my makeup so don't want to do housework and get messed up again. LOL DH already picked the dog up from the groomers, he sure is soft and pretty! LOL Smells good too--if only it would last. ;o) I'll have some computer access while on vacation, so will check in here when I can. I think it is great we now have a Mississippi/Georgia poster on here for you--and she's even lived in Calif. too. I've enjoyed reading the conversations between the two of you. Sure can tell you still miss home, and hate that so much of it will look so awful when you see it again. That hurricane sure did allot of damage, and the money for reconstruction doesn't seem to be very easy to get. As usual there will probably be some high up officials whose pockets will get lined and the poorer people who need it will never see it. But that's a post for a different forum I guess. 11:30 PM, Spicey! I'd have fallen asleep in her kitchen if I had to stay up that late! Janie, I never see that lady except at the party, but I'll try to get it for you. Susan, we used to have a hooker, but she moved away. All these ladies are friends of the hostess and they've changed over the years, if someone doesn't come for a few years in a row, she stops inviting them and finds new ones that are crafty and willing. There were 2 new ladies this year which was great- one of them made the dear little cuppy-cakes! Thanks for all the ooh-aahhs! :)

Karen, I suppose your ornaments are all packed away, but I wonder if you have a picture of them you could post. This post has intrigued me. I searched the web and found a blog where someone talked about spraying them with sealer, but I think that parafin would look really good.

Gail, I chose to throw away the gingie ornies, but I do have a couple of pictures. I've never posted pics on this forum, so this may not work. I tried putting the little mini m&ms in red and green on the gingies, but I didn't like the look, so I ended up just leaving them pretty plain.
