Vanity Countertop -- HELP!!

We simply cannot make a decision on what countertop to put in our two bathrooms that we are remodeling. It's holding our entire project up & driving me crazy!!!! My home is painted on various shades of grays and has a Restoration Hardware / West Elm / Crate & Barrell feel to it.
My master will have dark brown porcelain "wood" tiling on the floor, white subway tiles laid in a herringbone pattern in the shower with a gray mosaic penny tile shower floor. The walls are currently painted dovetail gray and will likely stay that color. The cabinets & trim are white, as well as a window with white shutters. So what countertop would complete this bathroom with a modern rustic feel? We currently have Suprehe White selected but I'm starting to worry that will be too "loud"....? Our main floor/kids bath is pretty much the same and we would like to do Caesarstone Concrete quartz in there if we can find a remnant. Should I go w the Concrete in there, too? Or Cambria Fieldstone (slightly darker than the concrete) or just stick with the Supreme White?! Help I'm going insane! Thanks for any expert advise Ã°ÂÂÂ

I'd do a grey.

I have plans for a similar colour pallet as you've described. I'm still undecided on the shower floor and counter, but I've got white tile, porcelain "wood" floors, white cabinets and probably white walls. Grey has been a possibility in the shower.

So I'm picturing "my" bathroom with a grey floor in the shower, and it seems to stand out in my mind. Lots of white, some "wood", and then this lone bit of grey tile. Doing a grey counter top makes the shower floor intentional IMO.

Im stealing / modifying your intro. as my reply to hows the house coming along: I am unable to decide on things, holding up construction and going crazy because of it.

Loud? Suprehe White sounds like a nice whisper to me on a white vanity.. With dovetail gray walls, white vanity which sound like a lovely pairing, and the Suprehe sounds understated yet classic, very appropriate.

Personally, I'd go with the Cambria Fieldstone with its darker contrast for the vanity.

threeapples- I was trying to match existing granite in my kitchen, but the only match was 2cm, which was thinner than the existing countertops. When I told my fabricator that I was concerned about the seam in the middle from a built-up edge, he said: "No problem, we'll cut all the pieces at a 45 degree angle and the seams will be along the edges where you can't see them." Take a look at these photos and see what you think: He even showed me samples where he had done this with highly figured marble, and he just matched the cut pieces at the seam line so it looked like the pattern wrapped over the edge and down the sides as if it were a solid 4cm slab. If you can find a fabricator who has the skill to do this properly, it's amazing, and they can give you whatever perceived thickness you want without obvious seams.

Thanks. I don't comment on fixtures often, but I do have to say I think the Memoirs is a lovely sink. The sink itself is large, the wide rim I absolutely love, and it has a good-sized bowl. It is indeed a nice sink. We had the same feelings over the backsplash. We went back and forth between painted wood or teak. I thought the teak backsplash would make the Memoirs pop more due to contrast, but my wife didn't want too much wood grain in the room. So we did painted wood which I topped with a teak cap. If my wife ever did want teak, I told her I'd simply glue a teak veneer over the painted wood. It's still painted. That run of cabinetry changed a couple of times during the design process. It was originally going to be a spacious 2-sink vanity. My wife really insisted on one sink! So that freed up space for the floor-to-ceiling storage closet on the left and what we call the "toilet pantry" on the right. The design has worked quite well for us over the years, I built it around 15 years ago. My daughter, who was 7 or 8 years old at the time, designed the profile for the toe kick cutouts. That was quite a bit of fun "working" with her. If you go in another direction, no worries. Choose what works best for you.

Have you thought about doing flat white and then utilizing textiles to add some character and visual interest? With Queen Beige floor/wall and a white vanity cab, white stone would look very chic and minimal - then you have unlimited potential to bring some additional beauty to the space with textiles.

you're not going to fit a large tub in there, just a regular 5' model. is this the master en suite? I like your idea of a colorful tile. You have nice lighting from the window. However, I'd prob convert it to shower only. this space was Identical to yours and they wanted the tub removed for a shower. no shower doors. we did one glass panel. (not pictured here, but it's almost invisible) So it makes the space seem larger. (this isn't a finished photo, since there are no shelves or mirror) 5' X 33" I believe were the measurements start compiling the looks you like and add them to your idea book. collect some tile samples, and save your money! These people got a deal for less than 10K, but only because I helped them shop and have a really good GC who can do everything. (they got a new window, new drywall, new lighting, vanity, flooring,,,,this was completely gutted)

Amberm, valid point on a gray countertop making the gray floor seem intentional! Hadn't thought if that. The Supreme white is quite gray so I still feel like it pulls it all together, just have fears of it being too busy. Hmmm.

Are you okay with marble in your bathroom? That supreme is most likely a marble despite being marketed at "granite".

I'd also go with a Gray.

Not really, lol. Just figured out that it is marble last week and turned things upside down. Frustrating! It's our master so I'm more ok with it than, say, our boys bath, but only if I loooove it and I'm starting to question how much I really love it. Here is our shower floor and bathroom floor to give you an idea of what's going in there. As I said before, white subway tiles laid in a herringbone pattern in the shower.

I'm attaching a photo I took of new construction in my area where the builder used a similar color scheme that you describe. The countertops are "Super White,"(aka Supreme White and Fantasy White) which, as know, is a dolomitic marble.

This bathroom has wood-look porcelain, white cabinets, walls are painted a blue-gray, bath / shower combo and vanity backsplash has white subway tiles. The master bathroom in this house is all marble.

There are some alternative countertop materials that may work for your color scheme if you decide against engineered quartz countertops. Stained concrete is a possibility, but it will give more of an "urban" look. Natural light-gray (non-marble) stones are White Macaubus quartzite, Princess White quartzite and White Pearl quartzite. Cristallo quartzite is another option, but it's pricey and some slabs look more yellow than grey. Another option is to match the floor tiles with a charcoal brown color on the countertops - such as elegant brown quartzite or brown sequoia granite
