Looking for the least expensive fully integrated dishwasher

I am planning on two dishwashers in our new build. I would like them fully integrated as I intend to panel them. If I were not paneling them I would choose the KA almost certainly, but want the doors to be flush so that rules that out.

I definitely want heated dry so that rules out Bosch. Other than that, I am fairly open. Can anyone give me a recommendation on the most affordable, fully integrated, hidden panel dishwasher?

My internet searches have just confused me!

No I haven't and thanks for the tip - I am in Georgia and they seem to only have one reseller here which is an hour and a half away. They seem to have great reviews and the price is certainly right!

I've seen both in the showroom, and its up to personal choice. On my Miele Diamante, I went with Stainless and with the controls showing on the front. I liked having them more there for easy access and can see the LED while its running. But if I was going to use a wood panel, then I'd go with the fully integrated with the controls hidden on the top. That gives the front a better "finished" look, as its all one wooden door without any controls showing.

We had the S series w/ small display that we used for several weeks. Due to it being a floor model, things happened with it and with our warranty, we opted to trade it in. We now have the fully integrated one and I like it better simply b/c there's nothing to clean around. The integrated one will also tell you when dishes are clean. There's blue light that will come on the top so you know they are clean. You CAN see this light even though it's not fully visible like the other unit. As for the countdown timer, why would it be necessary to know how much time is left in the cycle? A cycle is a cycle and when it's done, it's done. I don't recall ever really "looking to see" how much time was left. It wasn't important to us which is why we didn't replace it w/ the same type of unit. HTH, Deb

I think I want a stainless Miele dishwasher with hidden controls, but I don't like any of their handle options. In my quest to decide on visible vs. hidden control dishwasher (see my earlier post), I discovered the option mentioned in this post: Order a Miele fully-integrated unfinished dishwasher along with the optional "blank" (no holes, no handle) stainless front panel, no-holes (Miele part number 21995337D). However, I've looked at the cartoon installation instructions referred to above, and I can't quite figure out how this works with a stainless panel. The instructions seem to show how it works with a wood panel, but I'm unclear on how my own handle would attach to a stainless panel. I realize you can drill through the stainless (well, I can't, but my installer can), but I'm not sure what a handle would "grab onto" in a stainless panel, because I'm not sure what the stainless panel looks like out of the box. If you order part number 21995337D, do you get 3/4-inch thick stainless steel? The install instructions say the panel has to be 3/4 inches thick, but if it were pure metal that would weigh 100 pounds! Or is it a thin sheet of stainless over some type of wood? My problem is that I can't figure out if I need some special type of handle with special dimensions, or if this stainless, no-holes, no-handle panel from Miele is engineered in some way to grab onto any handle that can be screwed in from behind. Has anyone ever seen this panel, and can you explain how it works to install a custom handle onto it?

It may depend on what kind of drying cycle your dishwasher has. If it has a heated cycle (with the heating element in the bottom of the washer) , it does cause steam and might be a problem. But a dishwasher with an air-circulating drying cycle should be okay. I would talk to an appliance store about this. I've had fully integrated dishwashers in my last kitchen and in this one. Both were Askos, with the air-circulating drying. I've had no problem with warping.

Is the Miele Inspira II worth the extra 1000 (500 per dishwasher) over the Fagor 6 cycle? This is a home we plan to stay in for 30 years so if it will last longer or be more trouble free, it may be worth the price difference.

Fagor is a great choice Ariston is the company that ran out of the country when things went bad and left everyone high and dry and now that the heat has died down they are trying to worm their way back in

athensmom - When do you have to make your decision? You haven't broken ground yet, right? I'm putting in a Fagor DW and the 24" wall oven, but I won't have any real life experience with them until Sept. - Oct.

athensmom - please let us know ASAP, I just ordered the Fagor DW also, but won't be taking delivery until Oct at the earliest. I'm sure I'll be happy though. I have a cheap DW now and its fine with me. Couldn't see paying over $1000 for a Miele but wanted fully integrated with a dry cycle. Fagor specs were great, so I'll roll the dice....

Hi,

We just installed our Fagor last night and are trying to figure out the door... It doesn't seem to stay open while you load it (very tightly spring -loaded to shut). Anyone experience this? Imagining it's a user error but being thanksgiving today we can't get any guidance til tomorrow from the place we bought it... any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I can't tell whether you have or haven't already installed the wood door onto the dishwasher door. On any panel-ready DW, that weight is needed.

2/ The manual may discuss weighting the door more or less, or turning the spring more or less. What does the manual say? It's probably on the Fagor web site. They are good about this.
