Karen, I too like black backgrounds and use them alot. It allows one to create alittle differently.

Gail, if you have a desire to paint you need to try it. Wish you lived closer and we could paint together.

Lee, Easy Now, "Stay Out Of TROUBLE", if I'm going to get into trouble it will probably be with all of you on the BUS! DS brought his ittle yorkie down so I may stay home today and accomplish something. I know this sounds strange but I might even paint something else. We may have some explaining to do, honey.haha Will be waiting for the comments on this one.

Guess it's time to get over here and post so you know I appreciate your comments. We are having so much fun here and it's hard for me to keep up. See, I'm not fast at everything.haha

DH cuts what ever I ask. He's so fast and would cut every day if I could paint that fast. I'm one who has limited time to paint. So I do paint as fast as I can most of the time.

I don't think I have as much energy as I use to but I've always been one to say "Chop, Chop, lets get it done. Now I say chop, chop, PORK CHOP cuz that's what DGD says. One of my fav. sayings is Work Hard, Play Hard. I truly believe this and live by "If you can see it, you can achieve it is".

Luvs, do you remember the rose tray I painted for DH mom for Mothers Day? This is another tray just like that one. I still have one more to paint. DD bought me two more after I painted the first one and I'm just getting the second one painted. I think it helps when one is working to stay on top of things. I think I would love retirement most of the time but I'm sure I'd be volunteering some if that was the case.

Ditto, what everyone posted. You do seem to work fast, and what do you do with all those lovely creations. I quit painting when I had gifted everyone I knew. Chop, Chop, Pork Chop, (LOL) that is precious.

Syble, quitting??? How could you quit? I get so "grumpy" if I don't get in there every so often and "create" a bit. You can always gift it to someone or donate it to a senior center or other group to use for raffles or prizes.

Come visit us on the Painting forum--maybe we can inspire you to want to start up again. Even if you don't decide to paint, we need an "audience" to share our creations with and would love your comments and/or suggestions. Would love seeing pics of things you used to paint as well.

Punk, you are so right about staying on top of things when you are working--doesn't take much to get behind then it's harder. The funny thing about retirement for me is that now that I have the time to really stay on top of things--it just doesn't seem as important as it used to! An example is my family room floor--I used to vacuum and mop it nearly everyday before I went to work because my dogs left footprints from running in and out--now I run the dust mop each day and only vacuum a couple times a week and we just live with the footprints most days! LOL

I have a question: where do you find your wonderful, unusual trays to paint? I know that any tray can be painted black for the background color, but you seem to find such great tray designs.

Syble, I have so many friends and family that I give to and I also donate some for benefits and auctions when asked. I can't believe you family doesn't want you to keep giving. My family is always telling me what they'd like.

I noticed your beautiful roses on your chairs. Please share more of your projects you've painted with us. Sorry I didn't mention this on your post of your kitchen but was trying to get off here to go get dishes done so I can hit the hay early. As Luvs mentioned, we'd love to have you come over to the painting forum and join us too.

Luvs, I'm happy that your figuring out what's important in life. Keep reminding me and maybe by the time I retire I'll have life figured out also.

Lynn, Alot of my trays were DM's and most of the others are from DD and my Sis. This tray was purchased at Target and DD liked it painted so much she bought me 2 more to paint. Some of my DM that Ive painted wouldn't of happened if I'd known I might start trying tablescapes. Oh well, it's to late now. Thanks for asking. Luvs is the one who sent me into this new thing of painting on trays.

Punk, I never paint really nice metal trays, only ones that are in bad shape and can't be made pretty again with some polish and elbow grease.

Are these trays metal or wood? I sort of thought it might be made of wood. I really love the shape of them, wonder if my Target has those?

Whoever receives these will be happy for sure. ;o)

Luvs, it's to late to tell me not to paint nice trays now. It seems as though if they aren't nice they have dings in them. It would be worth checking your Target to see if they have any of the trays left in case they might be clearing them out. I got mine last Spring.
